SELU quarterback Bennett is Southland player of year

Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Southeastern Louisiana University junior quarterback Bryan Bennett was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year on Tuesday.

Bennett, a Walter Payton Award finalist for FCS player of the year, has led SELU to the conference title and the No. 4 seed in the upcoming FCS playoffs.

Other Southland award winners:
Offensive Player of the Year, McNeese State quarterback Cody Stroud;
Defensive Player of the Year, Southeastern Louisiana linebacker Cqulin Hubert; Offensive Lineman of the Year, McNeese State right guard Arinze Agada;
Freshman of the Year, Lamar running back Kade Harrington;
Newcomer of the Year, Northwestern State quarterback Zach Adkins; and
Coach of the Year, Southeastern Louisiana's Ron Roberts.
