SFA was out-manned and should have never been in the playoffs! I really wish the selection committee would have not placed SELA and SHSU in a first round matchup together. I understand their reasoning, but I don't like it.

Would have loved to have been in Bozeman to see that game between
South Dakota State and Montana State.

Tidbits of info from the semi-final game between North Dakota state
and Sam Houston. Both teams return over 20 starters next year.
Sam Houston started 18 players last night that weren't on campus last
Spring (maybe that explains the 1-3 start). Loaded up with FBS transfers
and juco guys who were able to win the Southland Conference again.
Then for the third time in four years get totally dominated by NDSU.

the Southland conference is way behind the Missouri Valley, Big Sky and other
Conferences IMO ..

Were already perceived as a middle of the pack conf. and then someone
had the bright idea of adding traditional national football powers
Houston Baptist and Icarnate Word to the mix. The Southland better
Wake up and smell the coffee or be a fading image in the rear view mirror
of the rest of the FCS.

Sagarin ratings have SLC as 4th highest rated football conference in FCS....

1. 62.81 Missouri Valley
2. 51.19 Big South..only 6 teams and Coastal Carolina at 65
3. 49.33 Southern
4. 46.44 Southland
5. 46.25 Colonial
6. 45.67 Big Sky
7. 44.50 Ohio Valley
8. 42.09 Patriot
9. 40.53 Northeast

None of other 4 FCS over 38.....

The SLC clearly has some quality teams or Sam (a) wouldn't be making it so far in the playoffs each year and (b) would be dominating the rest of the conference each year - when they haven't been.

The main difference is that the Missouri Valley is just miles ahead of every other conference, not just the SLC.
