With the coaching changes and what appears to be an outstanding signing class today, it may not be all that early to think some about next season. After last fall when I thought for the first time ever we had a realistic chance of going undefeated, I will avoid those feelings this time.

The schedule looks interesting.

Bears open with four OOC games....

8/30: at Texas Tech
9/6: UT-Martin on The Stripes
9/13: Back on the road to Montana State
9/20: Back on the Stripes for Missouri State

This is TOUGH.....no pushovers here.....2-2 might be good....

Texas Tech will be the first game and having the team ready that early to play at a very high level is a challenge and TTU is not Colorado.

UTM..some payback in order here after last fall..... loss to SkyHawks arguably kept Bears out of playoffs....plus first home game for Coach

Montana State..... FCS playoff caliber road game in Week 3......

Missouri State......Maroon Bears really felt they played very poorly last fall when Purple Bears won in Springfield...glad to have this at home..... this could be an intense rivalry over time...

SLC schedule:

9/27: Nicholls State at home...always glad to get the Colonels at home...

10/4: SFA on road.....Bears should have LOTS of motivation.....first SLC road game for new coach..... big SLC matchup.....short but intense history between Bears and Jacks... and, of course, CCC first time to play Bears

10/11: Home vs Houston Baptist.....first time on The Stripes..need to welcome them properly

10/18: SELA in Hammond.....this will likely be a very big SLC game...Lions will probably be every bit as tough as last year....pretty well whipped us last year..we seem to struggle to win at Strawberry Stadium

10/25: Northwestern State at home..... if UTM loss did not keep us out of playoffs this loss certainly did.....need to right thhat wrong....

11/1: Abilene Christian at Abilene..... to be a playoff team we have to win these road games....

11/8: Lamar on The Stripes....thank goodness we get them at home this season..... as expected Cardinals are getting better each year....

11/15: Open date..... about time......

11/12: Sam Houston State in what has become the annual slugfest between Bears and Kats....on road.... could be for playoff spot

Go 2-2 in OOC then win all SLC home games for 6-2 and split others on road ...end up 8-4 with 8 D1 wins......anything less would be disappointing and anything more might be superb....possible we could have loss to a BCS team and 3 high ranked FCS teams (Montana State, SELA and Sam)....

We will miss playing McNeese State......what happens to the Red Beans and Rice?

Well, you eat the red beans and rice.

The trophy stays at McNeese until we play them again.

Really don't know what to expect next year. I am glad that Howard got some experience (and played very well with it) last year, even if it was under a bad circumstance. That should help. Plus our receiving corp seems to always be awesome. We will miss Heard, Gaines and Love on defense though but Woodard should have a monster year.

Don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that we dont play McNeese  I love the bye week before Sam Houston...so glad Flanders is gone

Great away schedule, if one lives in Texas, which I do! Texas Tech, SFA, Abilene Christian and SHU. Hope to make them all, plus a couple on The Stripes!

Really fired up about the team and this staff. Is it August yet?

New coach = new system. So through out all those "we typically struggle here". Depending on his system we could whip those teams and struggle where we never had. We can go undefeated, well probably not (no high hopes against TTU). I do like the size of these linemen they brought in. Big problem when we went to the playoffs was our size. Just got pushed around too much.

Winning breeds winning, and Coach Campbell is a winner! That alone should give UCA fans some excitement about the upcoming season. It does me.
