Quotes from other coaches
At the introductory press conference, the handout had some pretty solid quotes from other coaches on the hiring of Coach Steve Campbell.
Steve Campbell is one of the true professionals in our business. he’s not only a big-time football coach, but an even better person. The future of Central Arkansas football will be extremely bright under his leadership.
— Auburn coach Gus Malzahn
Great hire. One of the best head coaches I have ever been around. I know UCA is a great place because I have coached there on staff twice and against while at UNA. I know the success of UCA football. But you think UCA has won before, just wait until Coach Campbell arrives.
— Louisiana-Lafayette coach Mark Hudspeth
I know this, you are getting a great coach. He has not only the knowledge of the game, but the whole process of coaching, from A to Z. He has a unique ability to evaluate players and find the talent in the ones that are maybe overlooked. And he is great at developing players. I’ve always said, you don’t recruit stars, you recruit players, and that’s what he does. He recruits players.
He’s at the perfect place because you’re not going to get the 4-5 star players. They are going to go somewhere else. But he will find the guys who can play football. He can evaluate talent as good as anyone out there.
— Retired longtime Texas A&M and Mississippi State coach Jackie Sherrill.
