I think it has been known for a while that in 06 Delta State and then 07 Tenn-Martin will be the opponents in the annual game. But in today's Log Cabin it mentions a possibility down the road.

"[Athletic Director Vance Strange] said Lu Hardin, UCA president, has already begun talks to have Arkansas State as an annual or regular opponent for the contest."

That would be awesome! I was looking around on their website and found that we can really draw a large crowd with them!

Facts & Figures
Opened: 1974

Original cost: $2,500,000 ($1.4 million raised by friends and alumni)

Original Capacity: 16,343 (revised to 18,709 in 1980)

Current Capacity: 30,964 (enlargement completed in 1991; suites included in 2002)

Surface: Natural (Bermuda grass)

Largest Crowd: 29,465 (Sept. 13, 1997) vs. Central Arkansas

Best Average Attendance (Season): 17,488 in 2003

First Game: Sept. 28, 1974 (Louisiana Tech 21, ASU 7)
First ASU Victory: Second game (Oct. 5, 1974)…ASU 14, Eastern Michigan 7

Dedication Game: Nov. 2, 1974 (ASU 17, Northeast Louisiana 14)
(From:http://www.asuindians.com/index.php?op=fac&ps=indian_stadium.htm)

That is a little out of date, this past season they set a new record when they sold it out playing Memphis.

That was a special time when we played Arkansas State. I really look forward to that happening again real soon.

Jim Hoggard got those games put together through personal negotiations with his Jonesboro contacts. Now that he's gone, who do we have with the personal contacts to pull something like that off?

There was a GREAT plug on The Edge 100.3 this morning. It mentioned the move up, the charity, and the chance for all the LR a central AR alumni to come out and support

I sure hope we play each year, but I would be surprised if it were in LR. It would be better for me than driving to JB, but I just don't see it happening.

I imagine it would be a sellout in JB every year now.

it probably would be, but that is on down the line I'm sure. I am focused in on ENMU and UT Martin right now...

Unless there has been a huge change in the last two weeks, ASU is interested in playing UCA in Jonesboro but not in Little Rock.

When did the Governor's Classic become an ASU game?

I guess we are forseeing the future and instead of us and tech playing it will become stAte vs UCA for the Gov's Trophy....other than that, maybe a slight typo?
