Looks like ESPN is denoting ASUN/WAC games this season as AWC....

Week 1

FCS #1 Sam Houston @ Northern Arizona, 42-16
UAB @ FCS #10 Jacksonville State (Wed, 9/1 on ESPN) .....good look at future opponent...31-0
FCS #14 UCA @ Arkansas State (on ESPN3), 21-40
Eastern Kentucky @ Western Carolina, 31-28
Abilene Christian @ SMU, 9-56
Tarleton State @ Stephen F Austin, 10-20
Lamar vs Northern American, 47-3
Sacramento State @ Dixie State, 19-7
Lane (D2) @ UAPB, 16-34
Missouri State @ Oklahoma State (on B12 and ESPN+), 16-23...OSU starting QB did not play due to injury.....MSU stacked the run and gummed up OSU running game with new RBs...
South Dakota @ Kansas, 14-17...first JHawks win since 2019
Austin Peay @ Chattanooga, 30-20
North Alabama @ Southeastern La, 28-49
#9 Notre Dame @ Florida State (on Sunday, ABC), 41-38 in OT....ND led by 18 after Q3 and FSU rallied back to tie at 38...
La Tech @ Mississippi State (ESPNU), 34-35

Nebraska fell by 30-22 to Illinois at Champaign...2nd year in a row Illini beat Huskers....probably no happiness in Lincoln....

ULM led in a game for the first time since 2019 when they took a 7-0 lead at Kentucky....Wildcats then outscored Warhawks 45-3 the rest of the game....Terry Bowden's first game a head coach at ULM....

McNeese lost to D-2 West Florida by 42-36...missed twp FGs but was 8/8 on 4th down attempts....

Of those games I'm interested in (besides UCA)

UAB @ FCS #10 Jacksonville State- For obvious reasons. Love to see how they compare against the team we played to 10 last year.

Tarleton State @ Stephen F Austin- Tarleton played McNeese pretty well last year. SFA has a ton of FBS transfers. SFA may win but HOW they win will be interesting.

North Alabama @ Southeastern La- SLU is good. UNA typically recruits well. This will be a good game to catch.

Norvell's Noles Nearly Nockoff No 9 Notre Dame

ND was clearly the smoother team but could not match FSU speed in Q4 on a hot humid night ...Irish TE #87 Mike Mayer looks like a budding KC Chiefs Travis Kelce.....he had 9 recepts for 121 and 1 TD...looked to me that FSU could not match up with him .... but Irish ran out of gas in Q4 and FSU was picking up steam...ND also lost their starting left tackle in H2 and the backup was no match for FSU edge speed and that no doubt impacted their play calling...Noles QB had to go out of game late in Q4 when helmet came off and backup came in a promptly moved down the field to lead a TD score...this is the fellow who QBed UCF but went down a couple years ago with a "career-ending" knee injury....FSU tied game very late on a 43 yd FG but then missed a 37 yarder in OT.....ND hit their FG for the win...

Norvell's team looked to have quite a bit of progress over 2020..they are fast, aggressive and play crazy hard.....if they get their QB play at a little higher level, they might just compete for ACC although it is pretty crowded given they are in same division as Clemson and Louisville....

#52 for Florida State is Big Robert Scott, former Conway High Left Tackle...

The kid that replaced him at left tackle, Jayden Williams, is now playing football at Ole Miss.

You oughta see the left tackle for Conway High now.... 8)
Kid was 15 just 3 months ago and getting contacts from schools like Murray State and dozens of small schools.
He's 6'6" and 240 now....wait til his body matures...

Week 2

AWC:
#19 UCA @ #23 Missouri State, 34-43
#1 Sam Houston State vs SE Missouri....seems like SEMO could have found a closer place to get beat...14-52

Stephen F Austin @ Texas Tech, 22-28
Tarleton vs Ft Lewis (D2-Rocky Mountain AC), 54-7
Abilene Christian vs Louisiana College (NAIA-Sooner AC), 7-62
Dixie State vs #10 Weber State

Other FCS:
#22 Kennesaw State @ Georgia Tech....basically a home game for KSU....only about 10 miles down I85 to Bobby Dodd Stadium...GT better play better than vs NIU last Saturday....17-45

McNeese State @ LSU.....Tigers better pour it on or Coach O will be available... QB Orgeron vs Head Coach Orgeron!! 7-34
#9 North Dakota @ Utah State, 24-48

FBS vs FBS:
#11 Oregon @ #4 Ohio State, 35-28
Tulsa @ Ok State..big rivalry game....both need to win badly even this early....23-28....either TU and MSU about same level or OSU played better and beat a team with some weapons.....I think the latter as Pokes had QB back and he did some good things but not at his best plus best WR out...
Memphis @ Arkansas State, 55-50
