Everybody has heard the talk or read the reports that the Cowboys are looking around, but it seems Southeastern may also be thinking of its future as well if word in the box is correct.

What was hard to believe, and still remains the case five days later, is that nobody from the Southland’s home office has been in touch with any of the schools about their intentions.

When has the SLC home office ever been in touch...with anything...including reality? If McNeese leaves and SLU leaves...it's a D2 conference all over again with move ups galore. Hate to say it but all of the Arkansas D2 schools student populations are down DRASTICALLY. You won't see any of them move up. They're barely staying afloat as it is. I never thought I'd see the day Henderson State sold out to anyone....but alas, it did.

rumors swirling about UIW and Mcneese getting courted by the WAC. If that's the case, that will kill what's left of the Southland.

One has to wonder what will happen to NWSU, SLU and Nichols. Sad state of affairs...

They are really in no man's land.....SLU and Nicholls would certainly add to most FCS conferences.....lots of very long bus rides.....they may have to be independents for a few years until things sort out....their ADs have a lot of work to do if Southland goes away....if they can keep McNeese, SLU and Nicholls that is very good FCS football cred for a conference......maybe a couple D2 ready to move up?
