At this rate UCA will be the only football playing school in the A-SUN. It's time to do something quick. We need to move into C-USA or back to the southland.

From what I've been told by those involved, the plan is to announce a football-only conference (like the MVFC consisting of Summit League and MVC institutions) consisting of the football playing schools in the WAC and ASUN. Whether they use a different name or one of the two existing names is up in the air, however it will be one football conference consisting of all those teams, meaning one conference title, one playoff bid, everyone plays everyone (at least as much as any other conference does).
I've also been told that there is a possibility for that to be the path all the schools use to get to the FBS. The WAC still has the grandfather clause allowing them to jump to the FBS as a conference at any time because they played FBS ball at one point. If this football conference took on the WAC name, all schools could move up together.
