The trip to The Cape last fall was where McElvain got in the groove running the offense...started slow and fell behind...fell behind 0-7 after Q1 and 17-28 at half... then got it going...closed to 20-28 then ended up 27-35...since then he has seemed pretty comfortable....Bears had total offense of 380 with only 16 rush on 24 carries...SEMO was balanced at 205 rush and 252 pass...UCA ran 44 plays and SEMO 63....Geno Bell ran for 20-123....

For this season...SEMO started off ranked FCS#9 by Athlon and have fallen from grace with a 1-3 record....

Loss to Kansas State by 0-45.....KSU lost today to Ok State by 29-21 and UCA lost on opening days to Pokes by 13-27...

Lost to FCS#15 Southern Illinois at home by 25-26....count that as a solid game

Lost EKU at Richmond by 28-31...not a shabby loss given how hard we find it to beat EKU...

Won 45-7 over Lindenwood at The Cape....we caught Lindenwood on the wrong day last season...

So ....SEMO could easily be 3-1 and ranked and is not a team to pencil in a win...

As for YTD stats..

Rushed 126x and passed 164x..that is 72 plays per game

Avg 2.9yds per rush and 6.7 per pass...overall avg is 5.1 per plays...

They get good punt return yds avg about 14yds....

Also have 6 INTs with avg of 19yds return per INT....opponents have ZERO INTs...41% 3rd down conversions...opponents only 31%...however, they have only 2 sacks but have given up 12....5/5 FGs and 13/13 PATs...100% redzone scores and 83% redzone TDs....

A little bit interesting they have won H1 by 52-51 but have lost H2 by 31-67.....hum...

Gross rush yards of 493 with RB Geno Hess (5'8, 225) with 272 and QB Paxton DeLaurent (6'5, 220) has 114...DeLaurent has thrown all but 4 of the passes....team has 6 receivers who avg 10 or more yards ..these 6 account for about 85% of receptions and about 90% if yards...leading receivers are Demoreia Vick (6'3, 210) who has 36-362, Ryan Flournoy (6'2, 205) has 20-195 and Jack Clinkenbeard (5'11, 200) who has 13-156....

12 of 24 puts downed inside 20...

Team has 2 FCS transfers and 5 FBS...numerous JC transfers...also several FR from Arkansas...Rogers Heritage, Osceola, Helena, Marion, Rivercrest....

Will take a much cleaner game to beat SEMO...they avg 52 yards per game in penalties....Bears avg 80+....kicking game important and need to have better than avg special teams plays...Go Bears!!

Liable to be a shootout, but i think the matchup favors UCA. SEMO will have to keep pace a little and the bear D has shown signs of being opportunistic.

Of course, hard to predict dumb penalties and special teams mistakes that can turn a game around.

UCA probably would be 7-10 pt favorites

Is there anything we can do to get the kids in the student section vs in the courtyard area? Everywhere we go has a good student section.

Is there a reason, besides coaching, that we have given their receivers a 5 to 10 yard cushion on every pass?

We don’t hide our run plays at all. Dead give away every time.

Dang we are making SEMO look good.

This game is pitiful, this better be the last season for the head coach, we CAN NOT have another mediocre season again under his reign.

mediocre team with a mediocre coach. it will never be any different

it’s kinda weird that they change the color of the field to yellow 5 times a year

We got lucky.

Against better teams, we do not make the comeback.

Coach Brown MUST address the penalties, especially the personal fouls.

Penalties are absolutely killing us. That being said that SEMO team is better than their record indicates. They had a really good game plan tonight for Powell. I just enjoyed watching them celebrating/dancing at the end of the 3rd qtr then to walk out with their heads hanging down.
