In fairness to the field goal team?
1.Bears right side end, let a rusher run right across his face untouched and blocked the kick. (I think the same thing happened at Oklahoma State).
2. Tarleton was 4 for 4 on the night and won by 2.

When we had the ball at the 3 yard line right before half why didn't we go for it? It was raining. The field was soaked. If we don't get it then they get the ball back at the 2 or so. Who cares??? No guts by our coaching staff. THAT was a disappointment.

Again the third quarter we had the ball on a fourth and 3 at their 3 yard line. We settle for a field goal. Why? That's twice we get down to their 3 and shut down. I get you need points but c'mon....take a chance. This is the second time we showed no ambition.

Finally, at the end of the game we get the ball on their 3 yard line and score.

Maybe I'm old school but you get the ball on the 3 of your opponent and you gotta go for it. That's just too close.

Onto next week.

Didn’t realize that Tarleton was D2.
So they scheduled an NAIA and a D2
opponent in the same season?

That’s rather odd….

I believe that they transitioned from D2 to FCS in 2020 or 2021. I might be wrong though.

Tarleton has been a member of FCS since the 20-21 Football season but as per NCAA transfer rules are not eligible for the playoffs until 2024. Do not underestimate their program, they are funded by the Texas A&M system and their football program is strong and will be a challenge in the conference moving forward. Having said that, last Saturday was one of those nights when the Bears just didn’t show up. Maybe it was the bye week, the weather, coaching or whatever excuse one wants to use. Tarleton overpowered us in the running game, controlled the clock, hit some long passes, hit their field goals and received the benefits associated from a team ranked 115 in the FCS in penalties.
The season now reminds me of the previous two, Bears have to win out to get a playoff bid.

This is the second time you have referred
to Tarleton as D2… is this a valid statement
or are they a FCS program in transition who are on probation
just like UCA when they moved from D2 to FCS?

They are 100% a d1 team that’s transitioning. But the amount of money pumping into that school would make it seem like they have been d1 for decades. Very much an up and rising program that has the (Texas A&M) money to back it.

Tarleton has already upgraded their stadium to be FBS ready even before they are fully transitioned to FCS!
