Two tough losses to two pretty good teams.....irrespective of FCS rankings....not a game to take lightly....better execute really well....Go Bears!!

We went to Stephenville two years ago and saw probably the worst game in the D1 ERA, no quarterback and Hudson transferred immediately after. Only a field goal and a cold wind blew constantly. We need to show them how we do it in Conway.

If that's the case, I would give UCA even more of an advantage for the game.

Texans seem to have only one transfers and that from a D2 school....one from Arkansas....JR WR Tyler Swoboda 6"3 200 from Bentonville West (4-65 recepts, long 36)....not a lot of seniors but a lot of juniors....

Stats leaders for season...

Rush - Kayvon Britton 755net/6.3avg/9TDs (+1 receiving....leading scorer)
Derrell Kelley 493net/5.5avg/4TDs
Caleb Lewis 263net/6..0avg/2TDs

Pass- Victor Gabilas QBR 122/122-235-1677-14TDs-11INTs

Receiving - Benjamin Omayebu 46-376-1TD, long 27
Darius Cooper 19-352-3TD, long 50
Keylan Johnson 11-313-5TDs, long 64

7 others have 5 or more catches...

Other - Aiden Guzman handles punting and placekicking...41yf punt a vg and 20% inside 20....7-10 FGs, long 41.....32-32 PATs....

Defense has 22 sacks and 53 total TFLs.....note opponents have only 12 sacks and 31 TFL...

Expect a tough game....need to execute well in all 3 phases....

Wow!!! Piss poor performance!! How do we have 3 blocked field goals in one season?! 99% of teams don’t even have 1 and yet we have 3!! And of course we had to have all the penalties we had, wouldn’t be a 2023 UCA team without penalties. Time to get ready for the off-season.

In fairness to the field goal team, the blocked FG was in a deluge which affects the snap, the hold and the kick which is enough to let a rusher get a hand up...split second separates mades from misses...probably should have just run it....

Some really good plays by Bears tonight such as David Walker setting UCA record in single game TFLs.....Kylin James is a hoss....Will McElvain is pretty fearless and cool hand....Chandler Caughron handled punting very well in poor punting conditions....

Hale ran better than since very early in the season....

Powell injured early hurt the offense....he had a pretty good wrap on the right ankle ....we could have used his raw speed....

Way too many dropped passes by receivers.....wet ball no doubt did not help...still receivers were open but could not hang to the ball.....

If we had that last onsides kick to do again maybe we would kick a line drive to the endzone and Manny Smith sprint to the ball.....the Texan who covered the ball would not have been able to outrun Smith.....one place that Powell could have helped for sure...

Texans about what I expected looking at their recent game stats....the RB was really good at waiting for his blockers to open a hole.......the two long runs thru A gap for TDs had a lot of missed tackles.....

Disappointing to lose this one but win the next three and we will forget about this.....

Do not like our chances at all of winning 3/3, that’s just being a realist. The lack of discipline burns us each week and as of lately we have been getting lucky except tonight. The predictable play calling does not make things any better either. Like I mentioned weeks ago, when do we get tired of being mediocre? Things need to change and they need to change now.

Also, officiating at FCS level seems to be very inconsistent....not that FBS is necessarily much better.....I would expect Tarleton fans would have their list of poor calls tonight but mine include...

The infamous targeting call on the sack in the pocket by a down lineman

A PI call along the east sideline by the official 40 yards away across the field while the side judge watching the play did not drop a flag

The missed targeting/roughness call vs Will on the sidelines in front of the Bears bench...Will was out of bounds when hit and the hit looked to me like a classic targeting...no flag....

Not long after that there was the group of defenders riding Kylin ( or may Will) out of bounds then another Texan dives over the top of the group out of bounds

The no call on PI on (I think) Barnes at about the 10 yd line on SW corner of field as the defender was holding the receivers left arm which he was reaching for the with his right hand

Then the holding call vs a UCA WR blocking near the west sideline by an official literally on the opposite side of the field yet no official near the play dropped a flag...
