Interesting read here, and could affect D2 football as well in the fall.

WARNING the original article was posted JUNE 6...here is the follow up on that I believe:

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05158/516944.stm

Coaches Voted FOR STRIKE. I'm not sure what this means for them, just thought this whole situation was interesting enough to post.

That is a wild article. We won't have to worry about that happening here at UCA :)

Somewhere I read that the conference commissioner said it was no big deal. The same union represents the professors and they routinely vote to authorize strike but haven't actually gone on strike, they just use it as a negotiating ploy.

I read about the frequent strike threats and the subsequent no strikes on D2 GSC board last night, I posted that stuff more or less to show people the salaries those guys make and the health benefits they dont necessarily get their money's worth on. But that would be a bad thing for all student athletes if a strike did happen.

To me what makes it really odd is that all the schools are state supported and in the same conference. Apparently no mix of privates and out-of-state schools.

I read an article about this in USA Today back a couple of months ago.

Even at that point, the feeling was that if a contract could not be resolved that the season would be called off.

Things are getting real serious up there.

What ever happened to the good old days? If you didn't like your job you quit and got a new job. Why cry about it? I'd tell them not to let the door hit em where the good lord split em.
