Scrimmage went to the defense.

#31 on defense was awesome.

#21 on offense was excellent.

Everything else....eh.

They showed some of it on KATV tonight. Dez Lewis had a nice acrobatic catch for a TD (what else is new?) and dominique brown had a pick 6.

Is it august yet?

I've wondered something about players getting a new coach:

Does the new coach:

1. Conform his system to be similar to the one that was before him taking into account his best players who are juniors and seniors need that.
A hybrid conque-campbell system so to speak.

2. Install his system making the players learn whole new schemes. Yes, the plays are similar, but the lingo etc. might be vastly different.

3. Start a whole new system so he can feel out who will be playmakers and which coaches can teach it correctly.

4. other

I have no idea but it seemed our O-line last night was porous and coach's instructions on the sideline to that group were very instructional which makes me think he's using option #2 and the players are slowly adapting. But it is spring. Practice makes perfect.

after talking to the Bears they said we like the new system. They are learning the plays right now and the rest will come later. it's going to be fast track football. there will be lots of excitement for the Bears and the fans. I am stoked and ready for aug. Yes I'm Lubbuck bound. Tech has nothing to go on referring about what we do. Go Bears Go

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm pretty pumped about this weekends Spring Game. Looking forward to seeing the new system. My son tells me it's high paced. Everyone has bought into it. Looks like we might have a winner here...

I couldn't get a count there but the whole lower section was packed and we sat next to many coaches of various levels of play. Looked like some scouts too.

Some things i noticed (though im no expert :D )

-Our offense looked pretty similar to what we did under Conque, though with some different formations. We ran the ball more...looked a little like Auburn last season.

-Jatavious Wilson is still fast

-Willie Matthews looked like he ran harder than he did last season. Is Kelton Warren still being held out from his injury last year? He didn't play.

-We only really gave up two or three long pass plays on defense, which was a good sign...one came on the last play of the game

-Our defensive line was in the backfield on running plays a lot. Dawson Hadnot was really impressive IMO

Not really sure how much you can take from a spring game, especially one with unbalanced rosters, but it was still a fun experience and im excited to see what we look like this fall

I can't wait until the new recruits come in and start battling for positions. I see a qb spot that is up for grabs IMO.
