https://ucasports.com/news/2021/12/15/football-bears-add-25-to-football-program.aspxLooks like a solid class....glad to see more more big TEs and OLs....
Will McElvain , the QB from Northern Iowa especially caught my eye....he shows on UNI website as RS Sophomore....and must have started vs Iowa State this season where he got almost all his stats....vs the Cyclones he was 21-34/290/1/2..overall in 2021 was 23-41/1/2.....prior two season below....also Averaged 270 passing yards, 115 rushing yards and 4.5 touchdowns a game at Lincoln HS in Des Moines… Led the state in total offense as a senior....also punted....by the way, Des Moines Lincoln is in the largest Iowa football classification and the 2nd largest high school in the state with >1800 students...playing at that level plus lots of snaps in the MVFC is pretty stout experience....
SPRING 2021
Started and played in five games... threw for 938 yards on 72-141 passing (51.1%)... threw just two interceptions all season... Rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on the year... went 10-22 for 254 yards against Southern Illinois... Threw for a touchdown and ran for another against South Dakota State... Rushed for a score against Illinois State.
2019
Totalled 2,778 passing yards for the season and 20 touchdown passes… Set the UNI freshman passing record...He was named to the 2019 All-Newcomer Team, MVFC Honorable Mention All Conference, and was awarded The Phil Steele Freshman All-American Third Team...His most versatile game of the season was against Weber State where he recorded 219 passing yards, 105 rushing yards and two touchdown passes... Twice earned MVFC Newcomer of the Week honors.
It appears he was injured in the Iowa State game and could not continue in the next game at Sacramento State......later in the season he was recovered enough to play some wrap-up time...ISU recruited him as a DB but he walked on at UNI and won the starting QB role...
Also, glad to see Don Streubing's son is officially going to be a Bear.....he is a big fellow and Har-ber is quality football and an excellent school...
CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas football program added 25 new student-athletes on the opening day of the NCAA signing period Wednesday.
The class includes nine student-athletes from Mississippi and eight from Arkansas, with eight states represented in all. The breakdown included six transfers from four-year schools (five NCAA Division I schools and one Division II), eight junior college transfers and 11 high school signees, four of which are set to be early enrollees. All of the transfer will be mid-year enrollees and will participate in spring practice with the Bears.
"We are excited about the early signing period group we were able to sign today,' said UCA head coach Nathan Brown. "We hit a lot of immediate needs and gained a lot of experience as well. Our coaching staff has really hustled over the past 3 to 4 weeks to put together this group of student-athletes.
"We have signed kids from eight different states and have high school, junior college, and four-year college transfers in this group. A vast majority of these guys will be enrolling in January. That will be good so we can get them integrated into our program with our current players that are returning and we can start developing a rapport through the spring semester.
"We were able to sign 25 student-athletes today which will be most of our recruiting class. We will add a few more key spots in the later signing period on the first Wednesday in February. We will have a more in depth announcement with all the players we signed today and in February on that day. It was a great day for the Bear football program.'
