Cowboys lose to SELA 31-24...didn't see that coming. Maybe there is a crack
in the foundation of the McNeese State program. Bears need to stay focused.

Somewhat surprised by the loss to SELA, however, tough place to play on Saturday. The Cowboys will be a BIG challenge, but I don't think they are strong as they normally are. Still, we will have our hands full.

Foot is right...need to be focused.

My big concern is that McNeese now likes to air it out and will test our secondary (yet again). I'm very happy our team has had a week off to heal and focus for this big test!

This is a pivotal game for both teams. UCA puts themselves in probably a must-win out scenario with a loss (and probably with any loss outside of SHSU), and a loss for McNeese will squash any dim playoff hopes they had. However, McNeese has the most on the line to lose, and they will go all out to not suffer the same fate they have had against SFA and SELA.

The McNeese Defense, at least stats wise, looks very similar UCA. In spite of some departures and injuries, they have been fairly good against the run, but have let some big plays happen at very inopportune times which obviously beat them with SELA and SFA and allowed UIW to get with in a score with long TD plays in the 4th. They looked pretty good against LA-Lafayette, but appeared to run out of gas when injuries began piling up in the 2nd half. I expect a lot of run blitzes with a healthy mix of LBs spying Hayden. They will try and force us to beat them through the air.

Their offense is 3rd in the southland in PPG, and they have done so with a good passing attack. However, McNeese's rushing attack looks very suspect which could spell doom for the Cowboys. I think UCA can play a base front 7 to plug the run and get enough pressure on the QB to force mistakes. Barring no major mistakes in the secondary, UCA should limit McNeese's time on the field with some quick 3 and outs. UCA plays a lot of man-D on the edges which will afford McNeese's WRs some opportunities to get into the open field and cause damage. The key will be forcing 3rd and longs to force their QB into 10 - 20 yard throws.

Hard to deduce much in their kicking game, but if UCA plays like they have in the past 2 ball games on special teams, I can't imagine getting outplayed on that front.

Their back is against the wall, so how they come out in the 1st quarter will be interesting to see. Is their will broken? Not likely. This is going to be a dogfight with a still talented team. I think UCA has the advantage in too many spots and is starting to hit their stride offensively.

UCA - 31
MSU - 20

McNeese has 2 Division I wins.

Their schedule that's left:
UCA- Playing very tough. McNeese will have to play their best or the season is over.
NWST- Easy win.
ACU- Easiest win.
SHSU- Pretty much a loss with the way the Bearkats are playing
Lamar- Toss up.

If they win out they will have 7 division I wins.

Since Sam is already 4-0 in conference with its easiest opponents coming up until our game, I don't see them losing more than one of those and honestly none of those. So its a game of who will be the at-large.

But no matter what if McNeese loses ONE GAME, they are essentially out of it with only 6 wins possible.

Cowboys have their backs against the wall. They will come out with extra effort this week.

McNeese has a boat load of talent...they always do. Never seem to play a bad
game against the Bears. Embarrased UCA a few years back at Conway. Always
a tough game...but just like I predicted before the A-State...I think the BEARS
will rise to the challenge and come away victorious in Lake Charles.

The UCA defense is much better than McNeese has seen the past few years and
that will be the difference.

Bears 31
Cowboys 21

Agree with you Foot, although I have not seen them in person, the defense seems to be better than in a long time & you would know. However, McNeese was always my favorite Bear game and a barometer for the season. This could be Campbell's biggest win since arriving in Conway, Ark St not withstanding. Huge game in the best SLC game day environment. It will rowdy & a great opportunity for the Bears. Hope I can catch it on dish or some live feed.

Wish I could make it but I've got my 40 year High school reunion to attend
Saturday night in Gurdon, Ar. I'm on the reunion committee so it would be
sorta rude not to be there even though I'd prefer to be in Lake Charles.

I'll be listening on the point 94.1.

Yeah, they are done talking about the rest of their season. I just know the Bears better be prepared for the best McNeese has been all season because they are going to bring the house on the field to try and stop us.

McNeese fans dont post on that messageboard anymore but rather post on their facebook site Geauxcowboys. Just search that on facebook and you'll find a site with over 700 members.
