Stunning result for UCA, which handed McNeese its first shutout at home since 1987. All of the Bears’ FCS wins are by double digits and they also won at FBS Arkansas State.

The Southland Conference is not going to receive five FCS playoff berths. Even the most diehard fan of the Southland knows that. However, the question is--who will get the coveted second spot (likely along withSam Houston State) if one comes available?

As of Saturday night, that team is clearly Central Arkansas. That comes thanks to Saturday's 35-0 win over McNeese on the road. The Bears have beaten an FBS team (Arkansas State) and their only loss is to a likely playoff team from the Southern Conference in Samford (by six points). While the regular season finale at Sam Houston State on Nov. 19 may sew up the conference title, UCA very likely sewed up its playoff berth this weekend should it not knock off the Bearkats at season's end.

Great season so far..........not sure anyone should think we have a playoff berth locked up..........we have four tough games before Sam........the next four should be motivated to play well.............Lamar came from behind to beat the Demons who gave us some trouble earlier although we finally put them away.............Lions from Hammond looked awfully talented on TV vs McNeese........good to see moving up in polls although anything more than #15 (say #20) is nonsense based on our record and accomplishments so far........keep winning and we will keep moving up.........Go Bears!!

I have been a part of and watched UCA football for 40 years and I am here to
tell you that there and erie feeling about this years team. The 2016 version
of the BEARS have a mojo about them that is undeniable. Call it fate or voodoo
or whatever you choose but this bunch of kids are special. It's like winning the
lottery...and I for one am having a good time on this ride.

Good phrase there...A ride.

This team isn't full of stars. They play like a "team" with talent. The chemistry is amazing. Watching from the sidelines you can see each player coaching each other up and teaching lessons to each other. While there are only a few "hype" kids on the team, there are numerous "coaches" who are explaining to their teammates how to handle certain situations and where to move their bodies physically against opponents. It's a beautiful sight. =D>

Most of all the real coaches aren't resting on their victories. Constantly on the sideline I see coach Campbell clap his hands a few times, huddle squads together, and speak to them about assignments, hand positions, other team player weaknesses, and most of all he doesn't allow them to mentally leave the game and allow the other team to make a comeback. They are focused on the next play only. Just an awesome thing to watch.
