Hey everyone, I am kind of late posting this since the ACU game, but wanted to still mention this. Does anyone know what happen with the DJ situation during the game. I heard multiple complaints from all kinds of people. Such as:

This music is too loud (Doesn't bother me, I am use to it)
This music is not family friendly
The music is interfering with the band playing
The music is not edited to take out the cuss words
The DJ is playing it during the wrong parts of the game

I am all for a DJ, we had a pretty good one at SAU in Magnolia, and when used right, it can be used when the band is not playing. Maybe the DJ needs a little more training? Was curious to hear your guys opinion on the matter. Hopefully there will be some adjustments made the second game, especially in song choice.

It just needs to be
Coordinated with the
Band. It has to be
Understood by both
When it's your turn.

And I know this sounds
trivial, but can the BMB
please come up with a
new pregame show.
I've heard the Arkansa
Traveler and the Troopers
Battle Hymn enough
already...

The DJ thinks it is his job to play between every play. I wish the band played more between every play. When you watch the big FBS schools play, you hear the bands going a lot.

And I know the director now is different than Dr. Brooks, but when I was in the BMB:

1. Pre-game was an afterthought. We worked it a few times early on in season and then would run through it on game day. We could sometimes get on the field for a Friday practice before a game and would work it then.

2. Same thing with stand charts.

3. Neither get changed until a director gets changed.

4. The focus is on half time.

I don't mind the Battle Hymn, but the Arkansas Traveler needs to go. I would much rather see more around getting the crowd involved via fight song, collaboration with the cheerleaders for chants, something.

But yeah, the DJ needs to be clued in a bit. And the songs should be edited, both in pre-game and during the game.

I’m all for having a DJ. Granted, it can be tweaked, but every time you go to a college football game these days they have music (mostly current music, hip hop) playing during timeouts, sometimes before plays, and during breaks in the action/tv timeouts. Honestly, that’s fun for the student section too, to be able to dance and sing to the music most of them are currently listening to.

At a lot of other schools (I was at a game between two P5 teams out of state recently) they play music a lot of times while the band is playing but still the band has dedicated times where only they are playing, as it should be. Estes is smaller though, but still my point remains. Maybe dedicate some time throughout the game for just the band to play and no music.

I don’t have an issue with the song choices, although if they’re dropping F-bombs during a song in a stadium filled with families etc, I totally get that, and that needs to be changed. Edit them out like they do at other stadiums.

It's really a simple process for crying out loud...have the D-jay freakin
communicate with the band director and come to an agreement on when
each one will play. This is a university, and if they can't figure it out...both
need to be sent packing. The Sound system at Estes Stadium is not loud
enough to offset the BMB when they play so it merges into an assemblance
of a traffic jam...

Hire a mediator...

As many people that recognize this is a problem, I am sure the University knew this as soon as the game was over. No telling how many phone calls have been made either. I think with a couple more games, it can all be worked out.

It is simple, but nothing is simple with this administration and putting on a football game. There was CONSTANT speaker feedback that I heard in my sleep that night it was so loud and annoying. The foul language in the music is simply unacceptable, and I'm actually a little shocked that Dr. Teague sat there and allowed it to happen, but he probably didn't notice along with the rest of the idiots that are in charge of this stuff.

The game speaker is at the top steps of the home side right above the window. I saw the coaches and radio guys looking up at it from inside the windows during the game. Bad placement. Might be acoustically the perfect spot but fans in that area moved down and away.

Also, can we do what McNeese does for tailgating? 8)

Dr. Teague addresses issues with the video board, sound system, concession stands and ticketing.

Hope it's better on the 12th. I'd go ahead and call the production of the opening game a complete failure.

It looks kinda like this + plenty of tents, RVs, Cajun food, and quite a bit more people than we have at our tailgates. Plus plenty of alcohol 8) best tailgate in the Southland and I’d venture to say in the entire FCS. Louisiana just does it right

Yes...probably 3 times or more the amount at UCA.
Live music at numerous spots
Food vendors all around
Beer sponsored tailgates
Just a big ole south Louisiana party...
and everyone is welcome.
They also sell beer in the stadium...which would not be legal in Conway.
