We played UH close, have had a week off to rest, recoup, heal, and prep for Nicholls. What do you want to see?

Here's mine:

1. Faster start on offense

We have to be able to drive the ball on our first possession. We cannot afford to have our first possession be a 3 and out or only a 5-6 play drive (unless it results in a score). Better play calling, better execution.

2. Breylin and receivers on the same page

We have plenty of talent. We also have plenty of miscommunication on routes. I hope this gets cleaned up. We've missed some routes on critical downs. These guys will light up defenses if this happens.

3. Faster defensive adjustments

Our defense has been pretty darn good at times. They adjust well. This is not a knock on them at all. But if we can adjust faster, we can shut down most opponents.

4. Better O-line

This has been our weakness. Keep #3 safe. Open holes for the backs. Dominate the line. Impose their will on the defense all game long.

Pressure Fourcade. Force him to make quick throws or out of the pocket. If he has time, Nichols will run away and hide.

I want to see two things:

Shut down RB Gums. He averages 75 YPG. In short situations Fourcade is called upon to finish the runs. Watch for that in the red zone and on 3rd and less than 5.

Shut down Dixon. Averaging 85 YPG receiving. Pressure Fourcade to go QUICKLY to one of his other receivers. They spread it around and have 5 receivers averaging over 10 YPC so that tells me they get rid of it quickly. Watch for the quick pass and bring the linebackers up to hit them after the short pass so they don't get yards after catch.

Other than that they've only gotten 5 sacks on the year. Our oline protects and our receivers have time to get open we are going for long yards. But we got to protect.

Just my thoughts. Means about as much as anyone else's.

Definitely a faster start on offense and a consistent run game!

Make In-game adjustments
and do whatever it takes to
win the game. I have
no doubt the Bears will
give great effort.

The Bears cannot afford to start like they did in the Hawaii game, miscues, failure to protect the QB, blocking from the o-line, receiver dropping balls, QB running for his life, allowing short passes for a first down, and the list goes on. This is not a put down on my Bears. Just an observation. I am Thibodaux bound Friday good lords willing. I hope to see the a different pack of Bears this Saturday.

Go Bears beat the colonels
