I saw on the D-II.com board that the Gulf South has a new teevee deal.

Any of you guys heard or seen any details on this thing.

Hope it is better than the last one. The Bears only made one appearace on the tube last time. Hopefully there will be more chances this time around.

Did anything ever come of the Monday Night Football idea that was floating? At one point I recall reading an article that said they were looking at doing a game of the week at like 6:00 pm on Monday nights on Comcast Sports Southeast. I don't have Comcast any more (and CSSE isn't on Dish) so I never noticed if it happened.

I havn't heard it discussed since early in the spring. I'm guessing, but sense the schedules are already set that a Monday night gig would be out of the question.

I guess, however, that anything is possible.

if that TV deal is anything remotely like the last one, we would b better off without TV almost. It was a terrible deal. Channel 6 had a better production as that last deal, or pretty close to it.

I would assume if you asked all the right teams on the given week and they gave their consents a game a week could be moved to Monday night. But it does seem late due to all the logistics involved as well.

Regarding channel six, I understand they are going to start doing the road games once again.

They use to make all of the games, both home and away, but they havn't done the road games in four or five years.

Hope they can work it all out.

MCCOLLUM'S COLUMN: GSC negotiates TV contract for football
7-12-2005
By David McCollum
Cabin Columnist

TV contract

The Gulf South Conference has reached an agreement with Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast, one of the top five cable providers in the country, to televise a football "Game of the Week" for 10 games this fall.

Also under the contract, there will live or same-day, tape-delayed telecasts of conference championship games in men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball.

CSS reaches an estimated 15 million homes.

There will be six Thursday night telecasts of football games. The other games are set for Saturday.

"Some of us had a problem with the four Saturday games because they would conflict with NCAA Division I football, but it was either take 10-game package with six Thursday games or start over," said Lu Hardin, UCA president. "And we wanted the television exposure, particularly on Thursday night."

Each football-playing member will pay $10,000 to help with the expenses of the telecasts. "The presidents felt that was a relatively small expenditure for the exposure," Hardin said.

The schedule, which will feature all football- playing schools at least once, is being worked out. Tentatively, UCA's television appearance will be its season-finale game against Arkansas Tech in Russellville.

Are you saying we're going to have to pay $10,000 to get maybe one game on tv?

according to Conway's very own...sounds like EVERY school will have to do that, so to answer your question...YES.

Well that's just BRILLIANT. Tech and UCA are going to pay $20,000 to be on television and anyone & everyone that cares about the game will be there. I guess if they soak the students out of enough tuition increases to pay for ridiculous expenses like this, the students won't be able to afford to go to the game and they can watch it on TV.

I can't wait to see how the schedule is re-worked considering it sounds as if there will be Thursday night games. I am assuming there is a slight possibility every team will have to alter their schedule a little bit at this late point in the process.

While the cost is being paid by the football playing schools, it also reads that other sports will be shown. So, if your program is good all-around, you could be on as many as five times.

so baseball, softball, men's and women's basketball and football will be shown on this new deal.

That is a little better I guess. Although if your teams suck, you will never see them on tv except once for football.

It'd be great if these 10 games could be broadcasted via the internet, too!!!
