What is this job and Is this a paid job for us. I don’t know how many we have or if we just have one, but one in particular who labels himself as media specialists for UCA football posts a lot about the Piggies but I rarely see him posting anything about UCA football. The last time he posted anything about us was the wku game. Maybe he does our stuff on the side. I’m just curious. If he is getting paid by the university, I’m not gonna be happy.

Yeah, give us an example. I looked through the staff listed on the UCA website and didn't see anything about a title like that. I haven't noticed anything like that on twitter either.

I can definitely tell you how many schools operate their social media pages-typically the responsibility would fall under Sports Information, though it’s not unheard of for individual sports (notably football and basketball) actually being handled by a GA or maybe even their video peep. People would be surprised to know the “content” that you see posted on Facebook or twitter is more than likely not done by a single person but rather a mix of marketing and university creative services (hell at Astate a lot of their stuff is actually done by part timers and freelancers).

Based upon my time working for collegiate athletics, I would speculate the reason for a lack of content update is either A) lack of manpower or individuals that were in charge are no longer in place or B) there’s not a emphasis on constant social media updates. When I worked under steve Roberts in 2010, it was a fight just to get him to allow us to start posting and sharing our team motivational videos we used to make and have the team watch before each game (he thought that was something for inside eyes only).
