now I have made a few comments in the past about how I think the need for our attendance needs to be better at games. But unless a major disaster or emergency happens, even I think we will surpass the 1-3K in the first option :D

Really folks, we averaged 7,326/game last year, and Henderson averaged 3,002. That's 10,328. Surely we can get 10K even if nobody else in the state even cares. That'll look pathetic in War Memorial, but what are you gonna do? I mean, Henderson? Come on now. That's a joke. What about ATU, SMU, TCU, Memphis, ANYBODY? We're really selling ourselves short here. If we're gonna be bigtime, we've got to act bigtime. I can understand playing someone to fill the schedule, but Henderson, and give away the gate? Sounds like a real sh1tty deal to me. Our University and our atheletes deserve better and I hope the new AD will turn down any "Classic" in the future that is as anywhere near as HOKEY as this. Come to our house and lets fill the place up for a change! Let's play someone that people care about or have even heard of outside of their own county.

ASU folks for not playing UCA and Arkansas not playing ASU.

Come on Purple Bear... prove yourselves on the field and at the gate at this level before you start downing another program that you are barely .500 against career wise... ... and Bear fans sure didn't exactly travel well last year, either. At the UT-Martin game, UCA had maybe 50 fans there for a trip that was less than five hours away against a 1AA opponent (that game drew maybe 1,500 people)... you guys are going to have to do better than that... and I guarantee Henderson will bring more fans than sorry asss Eastern New Mexico did last year when there was maybe 2,000 people at the game. I don't think many big programs are knocking down the door to play UCA at War Memorial right now (or even other GSC programs for that matter) so they took what they could get. Learn to walk before you run and the Bears will get there, but you don't have to diss other state schools to do it.

O.K., let's talk attendance:

UA 5yr avg. attendance is 63,387. #25/119 D-1 schools. Not bad at all.

ASU 5 yr avg. attendance 15,034. #93/119 D-1 schools. :roll:

UCA avg 7,326. #15/149 D-II schools. :wink:

Results:
UA 4 - 7
ASU 6 - 6
UCA 11 - 3

No "dissin" here, the numbers don't lie.

ok....for just one minute I will ask you to speak with some intelligence. There is no possible equal comparison between the three schools you are talking about.

UA=SEC Div IA
ASU=SBC Div IA
UCA=GSC Div II and ill go one further and say Div IAA

Now....factor those small facts in with the fan loyalty of the schools and you will find some of the reason attendance differs among them. But their schedules, their records and their attendance should never be compared side by side because there are too many other factors to be weighed in. Even when UCA becomes Div I AA, you still cant compare. Not even able to compare ASU and UA because of those factors and they are in the same division of football.

Now, that was not meant to be downing anyones team. I am a sports fan in general and I happen to like most of the colleges in this state. But lets be realistic and not get stuck with the "poor me" attitude that happens when schools think they are being treated unfaily. The answer is not comparison. It is in fact looking beyond that and being the best you can with the resources you have.

Sometimes numbers do lie.... :roll: Attendance is an inexact science and some creativity gets involved with some of these schools when reporting them. I was just trying to point out to Purple Bear that UCA is not so far removed from DII that it needs to be running down the other state schools. Until last year, they had not exactly been rolling through the conference and in fact possesses a losing record or a record hovering around .500 against many of these "hokey" schools.

I was unable to attend the Cap City Classic last year. Was attendance really only around 2,000? The media guide says 7,500, but that probbaly counts tickets bought and not used.

I was able to make it, and you won't be able to convince me there were only 2,000 people there.

Personally I thought 7,500 was a little low for the attendance I thought it looked like more around 10K...hopefully this year we can do much better with it being an instate opponent and I think the hype surrounding UCA has grown over last year!

As a side note for the Capital City Classic on August 31...

The Buzz will be on campus again here at UCA with Justin Acri's and Nathan's show being broadcast live on The Buzz 103.7 that morning/afternoon from 10 am-1 pm.

I've got to apologize to HSU, at least they're going to the effort to promote the game. Here's ALL that Google has to offer on this years game:

Thanks for the advertising HSU, God knows we need it. :x
