BEARS TO PLAY ON FSN SOUTHWEST

CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears will play Sam Houston State on live television as part of the Southland Conference’s package with Fox Sports Net Southwest, the league announced Monday.

The Bears’ game with the Bearkats in Huntsville, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 21 has been moved to Thursday, Oct. 19 for telecast. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at SHSU’s Bowers Stadium.

UCA, in its first year in the Southland Conference, joins the other seven football-playing schools with at least one game on the network’s schedule.

“This is exciting for us to be included in the Southland TV package in our first season,’ said UCA head coach Clint Conque. “This will give us great exposure throughout the region and throughout some very important recruiting areas for our football program.’

Fox Sports Net Southwest serves nearly eight million cable television households in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and portions of New Mexico.

“We are very pleased with out continued relationship with Fox Sports Net Southwest, and excited about the number and quality of games we have scheduled,’ said Tom Burnett, SLC commissioner. “FSN Southwest provides the Southland with a tremendous household reach in our region of the country, including the larger metro areas, and the broadcast production qualities are second to none.

“The network is a great partner for the Southland Conference and we are excited to get all eight football teams on the FSN broadcast schedule.’

The six games scheduled for FSN Southwest, all in prime time, will also be carried live by Fox College Sports, a national digital network available in over 50 million households. In addition, Southland teams will also be featured in three broadcasts on Cox Sports Television, including the Sept. 2 season opener for McNeese State at South Florida, the Sept. 16 Nicholls State at Louisiana Tech contest and the Nicholls State at McNeese State game on Nov. 18.

“We are grateful to the Southland Conference, and particularly Commissioner Tom Burnett, for working to include us in the league’s television package this year,’ said John Thompson, UCA athletic director. “This is great for our football program, for our university and for our UCA fans."

All UT games are on PPV if they are not part of the Big XII television package through the FoxSW PPV company

As I recall the SLC's investment is no worse than the GSC's with CSS and is in a ton more houses in Arkansas.
