do you think the fact we are looking at moving up might be hurting our preseson perception any? I don't think we deserve to be ranked very high at all, but not even getting on at least 2 of the 'others to watch' or 'best of the rest' list is a little out there.

I have been pretty amazed by the top 25 polls that have come out.
First off, most people don't pay that much attention to D2 anyway.
Secondly, as the old cliche goes, it's not where you start, but where you finish.

I'm ready to see where the coaches' poll puts us in the conference.

yeah if the coaches place us in the lower tier to start off, then these polls might be signs of a long year to come...

I hope so because the alternative is pretty bleak. I hope that the pollsters haven't looked at us because of the publicity, formed an opinion, and STILL think we're that bad.

yeah, the top 25 polls are pretty well useless.

but at least they don't influence the postseason as much in DII as they do in D1
(Auburn anyone?). They still pose some influence over the regional rankings, but that's more the schedule strength vs conference, regional, and national opponents and is based more on record against those teams (and their record) than anything else.

nice to see us #1 though.....I don't know if it will last...we lost a good bit on offense and we've got a tough first couple of games at Fort Valley and vs Albany State.

can't wait for the Sept. 24 game at VSU......A NIGHT GAME AT VSU WOOOOOO!!!!!!
