Once again a nice UCA related story in the Victoria, TX online newspaper. Any UCA or Arkansas connection in Victoria or do they just cover a broad range of stories?

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A bill that would make it a felony for sports agents to give cash or other financial incentives to student-athletes to entice them to sign a contract is heading to the state House of Representatives for a vote. The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday recommended passage of the bill offered by Republican Rep. David Sanders of Little Rock.

It would increase the maximum fine for offenders from $50,000 to $250,000. The penalties could also extend to a student-athlete's parents if they solicit any benefits not allowed by the NCAA.

The proposal is supported by Attorney General Dustin McDaniel and the athletic directors at the University of Arkansas and the University of Central Arkansas.

Sanders says it's needed to protect student-athletes and college sports in Arkansas.
