He has agreed to be president for 3 years, with no contract, no pay raise, and no car allowance! The only thing he wanted was to move into the president's house!

Best man for the job!

Tom already gets a $750. a month car allowance and will get full president pay next summer. He has asked that if he is no longer president that he be allowed to return
his position a head University attorney. Did anyone note that they are going to make renovations to president's residence before he moves in.

The release said to make ADA required improvements. That is not necessarily the same as renovations that had been planned.

most of the previous work was repairs (replacing windows due to mold); replacing the HVAC system due to age and inefficiencies; floor issues due to water damage (water pipe issues); and a host of problems that come with an older house that hasn't been properly taken care of over the years. lets hope that it is in better condition now for Tom and Melissa.

Tom's appointment is probably the best thing for UCA at this time as long as we are still on somewhat shaky ground. No doubt he will not do anything to embarrass this university as have the last two "characters". As he said, he just started losing friends with the appointment. No truer words have ever been spoken I'd imagine.

That being said, I think what might be just a notch above in importance of assignments is what our "esteemed" Gov. Beebe does with the next two appointments of board members next month. This has been his board now for what, seven years, and I'd have to say his batting average is nothing to write home about. Hopefully, some new blood will be incorporated in with the old next month.

It would be a novel idea in not knowing what to expect from the BoT instead of expecting the same old thing from them. When you are that predictable in making decisions based on past decisions, it just doesn't leave much to desire and expect in the "let's do something different" department.

It is going to take some innovative ideas and actions to move this university forward, not the same old "keeping it on a steady course" approach that has been predictable and has been the norm for the last several years.

Good luck to President Courtway and the Board of Trustees in their decision makings of the immediate future for the wellfare of UCA. To the faculty, staff, and most importantly the students, you have my sincere respect for all the "crap", and let me add that you had no control over it, for sticking it out during these cloudy days of the past few years. You are to be commended for your perseverance during that time. You are the people that make me want to remain a UCA Bear.

It's lonely at the top if you do your job.

Gov Beebe has at least one name of a person who will make a very fine BOT member, who will not put up wth nonsense and who loves UCA and education.

We need to finish getting the financial house in order...much progress has been made but more to go.

We mostly need to do what we do best...classroom teaching and professors who spend time with students.

I bet DHS won't write a good article about this. That hack will probably find something wrong with the whole thing. Tell Tom to make a list of everthing in the prez's house BEFORE he moves in so the hack won't accuse him of stealing something that wasn't there.

If she lives up to her history, she'll be nice for a month or so, then start casting doubts about Tom's character and integrity. It is her expertise, you know. She better be careful, Tom has lined his ducks up this time and will have some folks come after here with political vigor. We all wish Tom and Melissa the best.
