UCA eyes new Science Complex

Quote:
“This would probably be the biggest project in the history of the university, but it’s also desperately needed,” Chairman Bobby Reynolds said Friday.

The proposed 93,370-square-foot building would include 70 faculty offices, 12 graduate student offices, 31,200 square feet of teaching labs and prep rooms, 10,200 square feet for specimen storage and 43 faculty-student research spaces. The proposed building would house biology, computer science, physics and astronomy and science education programs like the new UCA STEMteach program. The old Lewis building would remain operational and be “flex” space, said Interim Provost Steve Runge.

Sounds like a wonderful project. Hope they can also replace all the parking spots
that will be lost. My son is a student at UCA, and as much as I love the university
there needs to be ample parking for students who are paying a premium price for
their education.

Very nice. Can't wait to see the finished product. But I agree what are they going to do about parking since its going to sit on a very large lot?

Good to see this part of the log-term plan being implemented. We have a very fine science offering and as much as I love Lewis (site of great biology lectures by Mr Kinser and maybe the harderst class besides freshman English with Dr Bukrs in Health) , it is way past time to expand.

It is about time for a parking deck......
