Tom was within his power to hire those two. They bring things to UCA that are badly needed...both of which include political persuasion with those who hold the dollars...and I believe the dollars where what the faculty were screaming FOR!

Slow thinking knee jerk faculty need to realize money is exchanged not by what you do, but by who you know in this state. We now have two who can influence more money coming to UCA... =D>

It is easy to understand the position of the faculty...but I have the utmost
Confidence in President Courtway. There is no doubt in my mind that he has
the best interests of UCA as his #1 priority. He has made these hires to help
The visibility of the university and to try to even out the way the legislature
Divides out our tax dollars...which has long been in the favor of one particular
School within the borders of Arkansas. It seems to me that each student should
Be treated as equal, no matter where they choose to attend college.

I'm sure I read something about equal rights somewhere before. My tax burden
Is just as big as anyone and I think this is a travesty of epic proportions.

The math should be easy...take the total $ available and divide by the number of
Students enrolled at each school and divide it up. Maybe factor in drop out rates
And graduation rates.

A former long time member of the Ledge told me when I asked what members thought of UCA that UCA is very highly respected and that it is the #2 favorite of most members......that sounds good but it also means we are not the #1 favorite and you have to be there to fight for dollars.....having people who know the Ledge and the way around the process is absolutely necessary plus high level donors have to be developed.....as for the chief of staff...I do not have a basis to comment on need or payback.....

It is probably wise to have a pure politicial type lobbying the leg behind the scenes everyday and night during the session. Kelley was Tom's and Lou's golf partner there must not be any other golfers in Wingo.

Nothing to those theories. Tom hired Kelly for sound reasons. Kelly loves UCA. Kelly knows his way around the legislature. Tom wants "no surprises" and he knows exactly what he is getting with Kelly. Tom wants people on his cabinent that care about the school, will be loyal to him, and not embarrass the University or the President's office with any unexpected activity.

This fell out of a tree this morning while I was mowing.
