Echo: University Sports Teams Deserve Better Attendance at Games

Quote:
While Central Arkansas boasts one of the better all-around athletic programs in the Southland Conference, one wouldn’t know it based on attendance figures.
Even though the football team won the conference title last year, Estes Stadium averaged only 8,550 fans which ranked fifth out of eight conference teams.
The baseball team was the best in school history, winning conference and falling one game short of reaching the Super Regional’s in the NCAA tournament. However, attendance was more than 400 only four times in 27 home games, three of which were Alumni Weekend.
Volleyball has been one of the more dominating programs UCA has had since joining the Southland Conference, yet most students and anyone who has visited campus couldn’t tell you where the Prince Center is.
Basketball attendance is poor to say the least, as is softball and soccer. - See more at: http://ucaecho.net/opinion/university-s ... Pj89Q.dpuf

Shoots a hole in the theory that winning will bring them out. Again I think a bigger atmosphere will bring them out.
