UCA Beta Alpha Psi Receives Top Honors at Annual MeetingThe Theta Lambda chapter of Beta Alpha Psi at the University of Central Arkansas was
recognized as a Gold Chapter at the 2017 annual meeting in Anaheim, California. Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization for financial information students and professionals with over 300 chapters on college and university campuses. Gold status is awarded to the top 5% of all Beta Alpha Psi chapters for their commitment to professional and service hours.
For the Gold Challenge competition, the UCA students created and submitted a video prior to the meeting that demonstrated why the UCA chapter deserved the award.
In addition to the Gold Challenge, six UCA students participated in competitions against Beta Alpha Psi students from around the globe. Anastasiya Klimiankova of Belarus, Obed Onyemakonor of Nigeria, and Nathan Scheuter of Conway competed and placed third in the Strategic Planning category of Best Practices using their project, “Building on the Past and Preparing for the Future.” Emelyn-Doriane Djoké of Côte d’Ivorie and Tuan Nguyen of Vietnam competed in the Community Outreach category of Best Practices using their project, “Diversity in the Accounting
Profession.” Kylie Garrett of Heber Springs competed in Project Run with It, a competition that requires students to develop solutions to real-life not-for-profit organization business problems. During the conference, students also attended sessions on professional development, ethical behavior, leadership skills, service, and professional networking.
The UCA Department of Accounting received contributions from BKD, LLP which allowed the students to travel to the annual conference. UCA chapter’s faculty advisors are Dr. Connie McKnight (
