That's a shame. That offense is as entertaining as it gets.

It is impossible to officiate, nor is it real football.

May as well add two hand touch to the game, because all it is, is a back yard offense.

That I know of; the only high school in Arkansas to use this offense was the class 3A Fouke Panthers.
It's been discussed in another forum that the coaches at Piedmont High actually took this idea from Gus Malzahn; when he was at Springdale High School. Gus was known to use varying forms of this offense; just not using all 11 with eligible receiver numbers. It was common to see the tackles split out wide with the receivers, making it easier for blocking on screen passes.
Here's a diagram of the A-11, as I've seen it used:

__X___X________________X_X_X____________________X__X________

____X_____________________________________________X_______
________________________X__X____________________________

You have a center and 2 tight ends in the middle, with 2 receivers split wide to each side. 1 more receiver is on each side, but off the line of scrimmage (only 7 can be on the LOS). Then you have 2 QB's in the shotgun, so you don't know which is getting the direct snap. 5 players must remain on the line of scrimmage, but the defense (and refs) don't know which 5.

Warren ran it some as well.

I saw Fouke play this season, and they lined 9 men on the LOS, with a QB and a RB in the backfield.

I heard Malzahn invented the quarterback position.

Don't remember who it was, but I remember a team using it, it was showcased on KATV.

Nope, just the forward pass. And the endzone.

Warren ran it some and Fouke ran it all season.

I had an opportunity to watch this offense a couple of time this past and I find it somewhat fun to watch. But being a former official I can see where it would be very difficult to officiate!

Since you have seen this and I haven't, wouldn't it take away the appreciation of an offensive line, what are your opinions?

Oh certainly IMO....I mean your center has a lot of attention on him, but for the other 4 OL, it takes away from them. I don't think this type of offense would be very successful in a 6A or 7A conference just because of the speed factor of some of those teams.

The team I got to see was Fouke, and it worked good for them because their so called offensive lineman weren't your typical OL in a bigger school's offense. This offense gave them(Fouke) more of a chance to compete against schools that had your tradional 200-250 OL.

I think one of the primary reasons teams went to the A11 is because they were so undersized that they wouldn't have an effective offensive line.

There are some videos of the offense on youtube. You might check one out. It's pretty hard to keep up.

There's nothing wrong with a lot of offense and scoring but there is just something about a good defensive struggle that makes me appreciate the game a little more.
