He broke his nose twice playing football in high school, where his athleticism won him a scholarship to Arkansas State Teacher's College in Conway.

After being forbidden by his basketball coach to appear in a school play, Malden left college and began playing semi-pro basketball.

Both bios here have him attending ASTC. But it sounds like he wasn't here long - if he ever actually played in a game.

There's an article on the front page of the LCD by Joe Mosby concerning all this. I'll let Mr. Google :lol: link it when it becomes available on the web. About his playing time at ASTC....I'll never tell. :wink:
