the girls played their tails off today. The 2 top assist "disher outers" in the Southland were opposite one another the whole day, and both put on a show. Sample was rolling with the 3's in the 2nd to almost single handedly get the Sugar Bears back in the game. One shot here or there would have made the difference. But for the most part, the defense was pretty dad gum good on the guard combo of TAMCC. The Sugar Bears are getting there. After this week, although 2 losses might not show it, they are improving and coming together as a group. Now if they can just keep this trend of getting one player back, then losing another one to injury, it would be ok.

Dobbins had a career high today, Sample's total was a season high.

Hopefully they are approaching the corner they need to turn to make this a respectable season.

judging by the last 2 games, and knowing there are some traditionally weaker teams coming up on the schedule, (obviously Lamar and SFA are NOT included in that group) I'd say yes right now. Still room to improve in plenty of areas, but even the perfect teams need to improve.

Dobbins is one heck of a player especially in her condition. IF any of you could see her on everyday but right before the tipoff, you'd wonder how she could do anything, much less lead a team. I've gained a whole new level of respect for her the last 3 weeks. The Sugarbears also have the makings of a good one in Kelleybrew as well if she can continue to improve physically over the coming years.

BTW, the weather is overcast and a little chilly...for this area, but the BEACH is excellent this time of year!
