SUGAR BEARS SIGN AUSTIN WESTLAKE'S DUEVER

Quote:
CONWAY — Central Arkansas women’s basketball coach Matt Daniel announced the addition of Courtney Duever, a 6-foot-1 post player from Austin, Texas to the Sugar Bears on the opening day of the early signing period Wednesday.

“I am extremely excited for Courtney to be a part of our basketball family,” Daniel said. “She continues to add to the versatility that we’re looking for within our program. On top of that, she’s not only a very good basketball player but a better person and we’re thrilled to have her.”
...
She came for her visit and fell in love as most people do when they come to Conway, and canceled her visits to Fresno and San Francisco and committed to the Sugar Bears,” Daniel said.

this article is a couple of weeks old, but it should give you some type of indication what we might expect here...and by looking at the scores the article next after this, her season ended the next game with an 18 point, 10 rebound performance.

Girls basketball: Duever’s dominance lifts Chaps to playoff win
Wednesday, February 17, 2010 | Thomas Jones

SEGUIN – From the Chaps’ unselfish passing to the energy off the bench, Westlake senior Courtney Duever always extols the virtues of her teammates.

But with the season hanging on the line, Duever grew a little selfish whenever the ball touched the rim. Or her hands. Or the backboard.

Duever, a 6-foot-1-inch senior captain, scored 27 points and grabbed a career-high 24 rebounds to carry the Chaps past San Antonio Churchill 51-37 in Tuesday’s taut Class 5A Region IV first-round playoff game. Her display of dominance helped the Chaps pull away from an improbable 35-35 tie at the end of the third period, and it set up a rematch with state-ranked San Antonio Jay Friday at a time and place not yet determined.

“This would have been our last game, and I didn’t want it to be over yet,” said Duever, a four-year member of Westlake’s basketball team. “We just started playing basketball again [in the fourth period] and took care of business.”...

Um, the thing that stands out the most is that the opponent scored TWO points in the fourth quarter.

Also, does she have pink hair? Is that her shooting?

yep, that's her. And yep, that appears to be pink hair. Maybe it's for breast cancer awareness. Or maybe it's because she's from Austin.

 If she's daring enough to die it pink...then darkening it to purple will probably not be an issue for her!

Well, nothing of course. She stole the idea from me.
OK, maybe not. I think it's pretty cool - or whatever kids these days would say - myself.

Look again, it doesn't look like her hair but a tie-on. It was probably for
cancer awareness. Lets be sure all our facts are straight before we start down
any path.

I still think it would add some more spunk/attitude to the team

when I posted this article, I had envisioned more talk on her game, and not her hair, but I guess I shouldnt complain since we are still talking Sugar Bear basketball and the future!
