NWS (12-10/5-4), 3rd in East
UCA (17-6/7-3), SLC/East co-leader

2pm at Farris Center

Lady Demons have been up and down.....close early road loss at Alabama, narrow win over UAPB, nice win on road at SFA (thanks much for the help), nearly beat UTA at home then blown out by SFA this week by 18. Not sure what team SBs will see.

Stats are about as close as it gets...SBs have 6 rebound per game advantage and need to capitalize there.

NWS is not a team to take lightly...Houston is a player and Thomas is a good rebounder. SBs will have to play with intensity and play smart and take advantage of home court. Shakeoff the UTSA game and start another win streak.

Go SugarBears!!

Top Players in SLC stats:

UCA

not to mention the come from behind 5 point win we had against them at their place a couple of weeks ago...They may come in flat and listless, or they may come in fired up and pissed off, who knows with NW State! I do know it is always a tough battle with them.

That win in Natch snapped a 4 game losing streak we had with them. We are tied atop the the SLC East with SFA who destroyed NW State @ NW State Wednesday night. I got a score at one point that had SFA up 40-15 with minutes left in the 1st half.

It would be great to have another loud vocal crowd on tomorrow afternoon!
Pregame will begin at 1:45 on The Bear 91.3 and UCAsports.com if you cant make it out.

What's up with Herbert? It is almost halftime and she isn't playing and has 0 pts and 1 rebound!?!? Is she hurt?

Apparently she is sitting because she had 2 fouls. No injury, thankfully!

Way to go ladies! I am really hoping that from what I have read and know about these girls, not getting a double-double, but getting a win is just as nice. Time to start another streak!

you'd have to think the points were correct, wouldn't you?

I think that takes a lot of pressure off of Megan. She just goes out and does her best each game and lets all of those things take care of themselves. I have been around her enough to know that in the last three minutes of the game she was thinking about getting the W, not worried about getting two more points.

It was all my fault. First game I'm been to this year and her streak stops. I will stay home from now on. I was impressed by Rice and Weston though.

SUGAR BEARS SWEEP LADY DEMONS, REMAIN TIED ATOP SLC EAST
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL • Feb 13, 2010

CONWAY — For the second time this season, Central Arkansas controlled the second half against Northwestern State and – for the second time – overcame a halftime deficit to defeat the Lady Demons, winning 77-71 in front of 1,830 fans at the Farris Center on Saturday to complete the season sweep.

In the meeting two weeks ago at Northwestern State, the Sugar Bears came back from 12 down at the half to win by five. This time around the deficit was only five at the break, with the Lady Demons leading by as many as nine in the second half, but the Sugar Bears (18-6, 8-3 Southland) took command and outscored NSU 41-26 the rest of the way to tie their highest Southland win total and improve to 13-1 at home this season while remaining tied atop the Southland's East Division with Stephen F. Austin, which defeated McNeese State on Saturday.

The Sugar Bears did it largely at the free throw line, hitting 25 of 37 for the game to NSU’s 6 for 8 for the game with the key difference coming in the second half when UCA was 20 of 28 while the Lady Demons were just 3 of 4. UCA also got a big second-half lift from freshman guard Micah Rice, who had 12 points and three steals in the second half...

Rice gives Sugar Bears a spark as Herbert’s streak ends
Posted: February 13, 2010 - 9:10pm
By David McCollum

When the University of Central Arkansas Sugar Bears hit a famine, Rice sprouted and blossomed.

Freshman guard Micah Rice took the Sugar Bears on her shoulder at crunch time Saturday, sparking a 77-71 victory over Northwestern State, the first win ever over the Lady Demons at the Farris Center. The victory occurred before a “Think Pink” crowd of 1,830 on a breast cancer awareness promotion.

While the Sugar Bears moved to 18-6 and maintained at least a share of first place in the Southland Conference East standings at 7-4, a major individual streak came to an end...
