The Sugar Bears take to 'The Stage' of Texas Hall in Arlington on Saturday afternoon with tipoff at 4 pm. UCA enters 18-6 overall, 8-3 and tied for 1st in the SLC Eastern Division. UTA comes in 12-12 overall, but they are now 7-4 in SLC play after beating SELA by 10 on the road last night. The Mavs have won 4 straight and 5 of their last 6, so they are heating up down the stretch. The game also features the top 2 scores in the SLC. Megan Herbert still leads the SLC in scoring, but UTA's Meghan Nelson is 2nd in the league in scoring, and she only had 28 last night in their win at SELA.

This is going to be a tough road test, and the final SLC Western Div. opponent we will face this season. We are 3-2 v. the SLC West so far this season. Pregame will begin on The Bear 91.3 and UCAsports.com at 3:45 Saturday afternoon.

Wow....nice to get a road win against defending SLC champs who won last year at FC by 98-69. Got up big at end of first half then UTA slowly chipped away until it was 57-53 before SBs put it away. First ever win over UTA.....now 4-2 over SLC/West this season...6-5 on road this season...FTs made the difference as both teams made 23 FGs and 5 3s....

Megan Herbert leads all with 23pts/15 rebounds for her 24th DD...Micah Rice was 13/5/4As with some big 3s....Westin Taylor held scoreless in 2nd half ended with 10 but had some big rebounds down stretch to finish with 7....Guiden had 8 pts, Gowins 7 and Rogers 6....UTA led by Tamarra Simmons at 14 and Meghan Nelson at 13...

Loud group of UCA fans on hand......Purple Rage better watch out as UTA brass section sounded pretty solid....

Next game is Wed at 7pm at Farris Center vs Nicholls State...last Wed night home game of season.... on road next sat vs SELA with tip at 3pm...

Coach: Feels pretty good.....really pleased with effort..we stayed true to game plan and stopped their late run....great team effort...can't tell you enough how big this win is....we did not play well with poor FTs (65%) and too many TOs and only had one 3 in 2nd half....with the support we have in Dallas this seemed like a home game....need some big help Wed night against Nicholls and let's pack the Farris Center so much we need to build a new arena...

Micah Rice: We did good executing down the stretch and made plays.....it was a big time win..we won playing together as a team...

ARLINGTON, Texas — In a year of fallen records and new benchmarks, Central Arkansas checked off a couple more firsts on Saturday as the Sugar Bears picked up their first-ever win over UT Arlington – defeating the Lady Mavs 67-59 and ensuring their first winning season within the league.

“Just a huge win for us,” said UCA head coach Matt Daniel. “The whole team stepped up and for us to go on the road and steal one is so important, especially at this point in the season. We’re battling for an East Division title and we’re in the mix for the Southland Conference championship, and keeping pace on the road against a team we’ve never beaten is incredible.”...
