McNeese (7-21/3-12), 5th in East
UCA (20-8-10-5), 2nd in East

http://www.ucasports.com/sport.asp?action=news&sportid=5&article=3589

Last meeting:
1/23: UCA wins on road by 76-58

McNeese last 3 games:
3/3: Loss to SELA at home by 61-55
2/27: Win over Nicholls at home by 71-52
2/24: Loss at home to Sam Houston State by 87-84

Well, this has been fun this year keeping up with the SBs as they came of age.

The last two games have been hard losses for the ladies..first not playing well at SELA in the 2nd half then playing so well at SFA and losing on a last second heave.....this game is nothing but pride to show the other SLC teams what they have to look forward to next year. McNeese may have been embarassed earlier at Lake Charles with an 18 point loss to UCA but they have been playing very well of late. A strong win over last place Nicholls 19 sandwiched between two tough close home losses to SELA and Sam should give them confidence. Stats shows UCA shoots a little better and defends a little better but that rebounding is even and TOs may be slightly in MSU's favor....UCA has a 74% to 64% FT advantage that could be big.

The SBs cannot sleep walk throught this game and win...they have to hit it hard from the outset and go strong to the finish. A big and loud crowd would be a big help.

Go SugarBears!!

HALF

MeNeese 30
SugarBears 47

Bombs away.....Westin Taylor leads 3s attack with 3 of 6 as SBs have hit 7 of 16 vs Cowgirls 1 of 10....TOs a little high but they are off and running.....need to play hard 2nd half and not give MSU any breathing room as they keep trying to come back with good defense....

Keep losing broadcast for some reason.... sounds like Purple Rage is rolling pretty well also and a loud crowd....

Let's finish this off in good style....

SugarBears 47-34 =81 (21-8/11-5)

Give McNeese credit for playing tough and coming back from a 19 point deficit. Kendra Wells of MSU led all scorers with 28. Herbert led UCA with 19 and 7 rebs.

Good team effort for UCA with four in double figures, inlcuding a huge 10 for 10 FT shooting day from Micah Rice and 6 for 11 from3 for Westin Taylor.

TOs were simply too high although some f that is MSU which is among the SLC best in causing TOs.

Purple Rage sounded terrific and SteveO as always called a great game.

Coach: Got fatigued ad lost focus in 2nd half.....they are beat up...will meet and celebrate tomorrow then hit academics.....team effort today.....attitude and effort is what it takes....appreciate the fan show of support....looking forward to opening night next fall with a full house........

Way to go SugarBears!!

Coach Daniel after the game grabbed the mike and thanked the fans for their support this season. He also put in a big plug for the supper next month and said he expected to see a lot of us fans there.

SUGAR BEARS CLOSE WITH WIN, BIGGEST TURNAROUND IN SLC HISTORY
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL • Mar 6, 2010

CONWAY — The biggest turnaround in Southland Conference history is complete.

In the final game of its 2009-2010 season, Central Arkansas held off McNeese State 81-77 in front of 1,432 fans in the Farris Center on Saturday to break a 24 year-old conference record for biggest improvement.

By finishing 21-8 (11-5 Southland), the Sugar Bears improve by 15 games from last season’s 6-23 mark, moving past the 14-game turnaround by North Texas (now a Sun Belt Conference member) set in 1986. It is also the biggest turnaround in the nation this season and the most in NCAA Division I play since 2004, and would be the eighth-biggest improvement in Division I history...
