16 home games, 13 road games.

Two in-city games, so if we are going to be lower level schools, might as well keep the travel costs down, right? lol In fact, 4 in-state games when you add in Uapb and Ecclesia.

The 4 consecutive road games near the end of the season in the SLC is new for us though.

ALABAMA HIGHLIGHTS SUGAR BEARS' 2010-11 SCHEDULE
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL • Jul 22, 2010

CONWAY — Central Arkansas women’s basketball coach Matt Daniel announced the Sugar Bears’ 2010-11 schedule on Thursday, a slate featuring 16 home dates – including the season opener against crosstown foe Hendrix on Nov. 12 – and a trip to Southeastern Conference member Alabama on Nov. 14.

“We get to start the season with a really exciting weekend for us,” said Daniel, the reigning Southland Conference coach of the year. “It will be challenging, but we feel like it’s a great way to get it started. We begin with Hendrix, which is a good game for the city of Conway and both of our institutions, and then we travel to Alabama for what will undoubtedly be a real test of where we’re at early on in the season.”...

...The Sugar Bears will also join the UCA men’s basketball program in playing doubleheaders against McNeese State on Jan. 29 and Feb. 12, breaking from the standard mirrored schedule...

That's great, getting Alabama to come to the Farris Center next season. Hopefully the Sugar Bears can give them a welcome much like the one extended to Tulsa last season.

But first we have this upcoming season to go through. Going to Alabama will be nice. I think it's the first time we have a chance to go play a game against a school from a BCS league and not be completely outclassed. Last SEC game was against Ole Miss a few years ago and it was a 40-point beatdown that could've been worse. I seriously doubt we see anything close to that this time around.

Also like the fact we've got four in-state games. Get to play both the other Conway teams, which is good just to give both those other schools an easy road game and a chance to play in a higher-profile setting. Makes sense that, if you're going to play non D-Is, might as well do it with the teams in your own town whenever there's a chance to do so. The UAPB series makes sense as well. Ecclesia - whatever. Good to get a win and play everybody.

I wouldn't mind if we played Hendrix, CBC, UAPB, ASU and UALR every year. You figure you get 13-14 non-conference games, you can play those five plus try to play a couple bigger name opponents (a couple on the road, occasionally one at home), mix in a couple more rent-a-wins, then have 3-5 games against similar lower level D-I teams that you would hope to have a good chance to beat but will still test you.

Anyhow ... like the way this year's schedule shapes up. Will be good to have Belmont, Lipscomb and Chicago State all coming to the Farris Center. Those were three Ls last year that would be nice to flip around this year, but aren't guaranteed. Belmont has a pretty decent squad. Those should be entertaining games, along with the Eastern Kentucky game - which was a five point game last year.

Opening up conference with Lamar and SFA is tough, but at least you know right off the bat where you stand. And, those games will probably be a major part of the conference title race, so you get right into the important stuff from the get-go.

Should be an exciting season. Looking forward to it - maybe we can even improve off of last year's 21 wins.

Looks like we will beat a SEC UofA in the next two years and probably in Farris!
