FRISCO, Texas - Central Arkansas sophomore forward Megan Herbert was named the Southland women's basketball player of the week by vote of the league's sports information directors the conference announced Monday.
Herbert, a native of Rogers, Ark., recorded two double-doubles to begin the season. Herbert averaged 22 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 95.2 from the free throw line. Two games into the season, she has tied the Southland career double-doubles record of 29. Herbert posted 20 points and 16 rebounds at Alabama, and had 24 and 14 rebounds in the season opener against Hendrix College.
Honorable mention this week goes to Northwestern State sophomore guard Meredith Graf; Sam Houston State sophomore guard Chanice Smith; Southeastern Louisiana senior forward Rashima Jenkins and Texas State sophomore guard Diamond Ford. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland women's basketball sports information directors.
