Central Arkansas sophomore forward Megan Herbert was voted the Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the league's SIDs on Monday, earning the award for the second time this season after leading the Sugar Bears to a pair of wins over Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State.
Herbert averaged 23 points and 15.5 rebounds in the victories, shooting 79 percent from the field, 60 percent from the 3-point line and 86.7 percent from the free throw line.
She led the week off with season highs in both points and rebounds, getting 27 and 18 in a 78-66 win over SFA, the Sugar Bears' first-ever win over the Ladyjacks. She followed that up with a 19-point, 13-rebound effort on the road in a 70-52 win at Northwestern State, which was previously unbeaten in league play.
The double-doubles marked her 10th and 11th of the season and extends her Southland career record to 38 in just 45 career games.
The award is the sixth of Herbert's career and second of the season, joining Lamar sophomore Kalis Loyd as the only players in the league to receive the award multiple times this season...
