Congrats to the ladies on a fine season and a well played game last night. UAB had a height advantage at just about every positon last night but the SBs were relentless.
Duever played well for a true freshman..made a few mistakes but made more nice plays....she is pretty versatile..not just inside....
Herbert is a stalwart...she attracted so much attention last night but still got her points and some timely rebounds with some solid defense....she seems to be the cheerleader on the floor also.....
Destinee Rogers deserved a good night sleep last night...she chased the UAB shooter (by the way, this UAB girl was as good as I have seen at creating her shot out of nothing) all over the court and had a hand in her face on every shot even though she gave up 3-4 inches in height....
Desiree Rogers, Rice and Gowins all played lots of solid minutes and got their points and rebounds with good defense....
Last but not least was Guiden.....she is smooth and works hard for her shots...totally fearless with dribble penetration among the 6'2 UAB post players....
Both teams worked hard and played solid.... hats off to UAB for not giving up in the 2nd half when we had a chance to put them away....they played wth patience...best of luck to them in the WBI....officiating was pretty consistent and generally let them play without a bunch of ticky tack fouls.
We got a little out of control at times but that was due too extremely hard effort, not recklessness........they are fun to watch...glad to see a large crowd that was in the game from tip to end.....that is the atmosphere we need every game....
The Purple Rage is always a great sound and last night was no exception ....and the Cheer exhibition at half was pretty impressive....
Hope to see all of you at the NCAAs next season.....
