Per Coach Daniel's tweet, the Sugarbears will open up in the Farris Center next year against INDIANA!

Wow! This just shows what success can do for a program, and it really is amazing that we get opportunities like this so soon after transitioning to D1. Indiana + Alabama at home in the same season will be incredible! Let's recreate the atmosphere we had against UAB (plus maybe a thousand more people) and it'll be an exciting start to the 2011-2012 season! =D> :D

Well, lots of people say crowds will come with winning and better competition...if so, then next hear we should pack the FC several times...that would be great to have win over a SEC team and a Big 10 team then win the SLC tourney....way to go Coach D...

While this may be the case, people don't really care about records in some sports. It's all about the name!

End of season RPI (DI results)
Alabama 115 (16-14)
Indiana 172 (9-20)
UAB (just for fun) 180 (16-15)
UCA 191 (17-11)

You get them on your home court and they will be vulnerable I have to believe.

UCA's lower RPI can easily be explained if you look at their non-conference schedule.

I hate to say it, but the conference schedule didn't help either... :?

Exactly why you have to play a tougher non-conference schedule.

SUGAR BEARS BRINGING INDIANA, ALABAMA TO CONWAY TO OPEN '11-'12 SEASON

Quote:
CONWAY — After finishing the 2010-11 season with a record crowd against UAB in the first round of the Women's Basketball Invitational, Central Arkansas is looking to ride that momentum into the '11-'12 season as the Sugar Bears open with the two highest-profile teams to ever come into the Farris Center.

The Sugar Bears, who won 21 games for the second consecutive season and appeared in the Southland Conference tournament championship game in their first year eligible, will test themselves early as they begin the season at home with a pair of marquee games against Indiana and Alabama on Nov. 11 and 15 – marking the first time UCA will have hosted a Big Ten or SEC basketball team.

"This is a big-time non-conference schedule," said UCA head coach Matt Daniel, who will enter his fourth season at the school. "The opportunity to have these name programs on our campus should speak volumes to how much we've grown in a very short time. It's a great opportunity for us to showcase to our community and state that we are here and women's basketball is important. Our crowds have grown exponentially over the last couple years, but with a schedule like this we hope and anticipate the crowd of 3,000 we had in postseason play last year becomes a mainstay for the Farris Center and an environment that is hostile for opposing teams."

Our OOC schedule will feature only 1 TRUE road game (@ TX Tech) the rest are at home or neutral sites!

OOC Schedule
INDIANA
ALABAMA

@TX Tech (Texas Tech won 22 games last season and scored wins over No. 1 Baylor, No. 18 Oklahoma and No. 20 Iowa State late in the season)
UMKC (@ TX Tech)
ULM (@ TX Tech)
UT-Martin (the defending Ohio Valley Conference tournament champion, on Dec. 10. The Skyhawks, who won 21 games and faced Duke in the NCAA tournament, featured the nation's No. 1 and No. 3 freshmen scorers this season on a team that had nine freshmen and three junior college transfers.)
@ Bahamas Sunshine Shootout vs. SIU, Georgia State, or High Point (2 of 3)
UAPB
Philander Smith

Unless I am not reading well, we are still missing 3 home games from the list above. I am guess Hendrix and a couple of in-state small schools (e.g. Ecclessia, Lyon, etc.)
