SBs cruise 79-48.......

Herbert and Duever lead with 13 each...Des had 10/11 DD and Nakeia added 10 pts.

Shoots 59% from 2s but only 30% from 3 (6/21) and 50% (17/34) from FTs...

Now 6-2 and UT-Martin is next at FC starting at 2pm

A=633

It was far from cruising, at least for over 20 minutes. We played beyond terrible in the first half, and were fortunate to be up 10 at the break. But to the girls' credit they responded from the opening minutes of the 2nd half and at least took care of business making the score what it should have been, probably from the opening tip. I think they girls learned they need to be locked in and focused every game and respect every opponent no matter who the opponent is.

That said, a big non-conference game against UT-Martin is coming up Saturday afternoon at 2 pm. It would be great to have a big vocal crowd for that one. UTMartin went to the NCAA Tournament last year after winning the OVC Tournament. They feature 2 star guards who are only sophs. It should be a very even game.

Sugar Bears re-focus, surge past CBC in 2nd half

Central Baptist College’s Lady Mustangs ripped apart the form chart Monday night before the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears put some pieces together the second half at the Farris Center.

The Sugar Bears (6-2) used a 9-2 run in the final 3:22 of the first half to take a 10-point lead (34-24) over their NAIA rivals of a few blocks away before eventually finishing with a 79-48 win. With 4:01 left in the first half, UCA led only 25-22 after a 3-pointer by the Lady Mustangs’ Preva Edwards that capped a 12-2 run by the visitors. It was 26-22 with 3:22 left before the Sugar Bears pulled away for good.

At halftime, UCA coach Matt Daniel sent his team out of the locker room onto the floor within two minutes. It did not take an astute expert in body language to tell he was not a happy camper.

“We’re practicing twice tomorrow, and it was supposed to be an off day; I don’t know what to say,” Daniel said. “You can’t take things for granted and I won’t do that.”...
