FRISCO, Texas - Central Arkansas junior forward Megan Herbert has been named Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It marks the second time this season Herbert has been honored with the award.

Herbert posted a season-high 27 points, 14 rebounds and a career-high four blocks in UCA's come-from-behind win against Tennessee-Martin last week. The Rogers, Ark. (Shiloh Christian H.S.), native tallied 12 points, four rebounds and three blocks in a 7:37 span in the second half against UT-Martin that helped the Sugar Bears erase a double-digit second half deficit before winning in overtime. Last week, Herbert averaged 20.0 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. Herbert also shot 65.2 percent (15-for-23) from the field in the two games, helped UCA improve to 7-2 on the year...

Following her 27-point, 14-rebound effort in the Sugar Bears' win over UT Martin on Saturday, Central Arkansas junior forward Megan Herbert has been named this week's Southland Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

It is the second award of the season for Herbert, and ninth of her career. She was also recognized as the Southland Player of the Week by College Sports Madness, her first time to earn that award.

Herbert averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 2 steals and 1.5 assists in the Sugar Bears' victories over Central Baptist and UT Martin last week, shooting 65.2 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from 3-point range and 80.0 percent at the free throw line.

She dominated the second half against the Skyhawks, putting together a 7:37 span that included 13 points, four rebounds and three blocks as the Sugar Bears erased a 10-point deficit en route to an overtime victory to remain perfect at home this season...

MH is quite a player and court leader.....she just goes about her work on the court and NEVER gives up..... she is very deceptive..not fast...not tall...BUT knows positioning and hustles and HITS FTs.....
