The Sugar Bears (14-4, 4-1, and ranked #17 in this week's Collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25) are back at home Wednesday night at 7 pm to take on 5-12, 0-4 Southeastern Louisiana.

The SB's swept the Lady Lions last year and have won 3 out of 4 in the series. UCA is 4-1 in the FC against the Lady Lions all-time. Only 1 of the 5 SLU wins this year have been against true Div. 1 opponents as well. It's an internet only broadcast beginning at 6:40 on UCAsports.com

SUGAR BEARS, NO. 17 IN MID-MAJOR POLL, LOOK TO KEEP HOME STREAK INTAC TONIGHT
1/25/2012 9:56:00 AM

CONWAY — After a pair of wins over Nicholls and Lamar last week, Central Arkansas holds steady at No. 17 in this week's Mid-Major Top 25 poll.

The Sugar Bears (14-4, 4-1 Southland) will have a chance to directly affect one of the teams ahead of them on Saturday when they host defending Southland Conference champion McNeese State, which is No. 11 in this week's poll.

But before the Sugar Bears can worry about the Cowgirls, they must first contend with the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana tonight in the Farris Center at 7 p.m.

The Lady Lions are the lone Southland team yet to record a conference win this season, coming into tonight's game 0-4 and 5-12 overall. Though they have yet to score a league victory, they haven't missed by much in three of those losses, falling by nine at Nicholls, eight against Stephen F. Austin and just five at A&M-Corpus Christi in a game in which they trailed just one with under a minute to play. They are looking to avoid their first 0-5 start to Southland play since 2001-02.

Southeastern has won just once in its last nine games – an 81-30 drubbing of New Orleans...

2ND-HALF DOMINANCE AGAIN PROPELS UCA TO VICTORY; SUGAR BEARS REMAIN PERFECT AT HOME
1/25/2012 10:16:00 PM

CONWAY — Another big second half, another win for Central Arkansas.

For the fourth straight game, the Sugar Bears had a decided second half-advantage to pull away from their opponent – this time outscoring Southeastern Louisiana 49-30 in the final period to score a 71-54 victory in Southland Conference play Wednesday night at the Farris Center.

The Sugar Bears (15-4, 5-1 Southland) trailed 24-22 at the half against the Lady Lions (5-13, 0-5), their third straight game to trail at the half, but once again turned up the intensity in the second half to pull out the win. The Sugar Bears have now outscored their last four opponents 176-100, an average of 44-25, in the second half.

"I tell you – every night in this league is going to be a war," said UCA head coach Matt Daniel, whose team remains perfect at home this season at 11-0. "I don't know if it takes us a half to figure it out or what the deal is, but we've been able to make the proper adjustments and so far it's allowed us to come out and be better (in the second half). It's a game of ebb and flow, and thank heaven for us it was more mountaintops than valleys."...

Sugar Bears blossom in second half again
Posted: January 25, 2012 - 9:35pm
By David McCollum

First half for University of Central Arkansas Sugar Bears: desert.

Second half for UCA Sugar Bears: oasis.

That’s the latest template.

The basic storyline is the UCA women went to 5-1 in the Southland Conference and won their 11th straight home game with a 71-54 victory over Southeastern Louisiana.

But it was harder than it looked.

The Sugar Bears (15-4) had scoring droughts of 6:59 (7:34 without a field goal) and 3:45 the first half and found themselves trailing the struggling Lady Lions (5-13, 0-5) 24-22 at halftime...
