FINAL

Texas State 75 (5-4/13-9)
SugarBears 81 (9-1/19-4)

Bobcats had a slight FG edge at 47% to 43% but SBs had more 3s....plus we had 25 FTs (of 37) while TSU was 15 of 18.....won rebs 40-30 but gave up 10 steals...

Des Rogers comesup huge with 27 inclusing 6/10 from 3s....wow...

Nakeia Gudein also had a great scoring night at 19 AND hit 7/8 FTs....

Megan Herbert had her basic 17/19 night...

Desiree Rogers had nice night at 9/9...

Let them get back in late and had to make one final push to get the win...

Diamond Ford scored 30 for TSU and Ashley Ezeh added 22.....good scorers...

Always good to defend home court....

Next is McNeese on the road at 1pm.......

Diamond Ford is a very good all around player. That call at the end could
have went either way. It's a three point lead at that time...if TSU gets the
blocking call and makes the free throws, it's a 1 point game. Instead we get
the charging call and a Tech to boot to put it up at a 6 point lead and it is
over. Missed too many free throws in the last 2 minutes. Sugar Bears had a
an 11 point lead around the 2 minute mark if I remember correctly and let
it slip away and then found a way to win it. This team makes it very interesting
every time out. I really enjoyed the game. Congrats to the Sugar Bears on
another victory. =D> =D> =D>

Yep, that sums up the 2011-12 Sugar Bears to this point!

SUGAR BEARS REMAIN ATOP SOUTHLAND, PERFECT AT HOME WITH WIN OVER TEXAS STATE
2/8/2012 10:31:00 PM

CONWAY — Destinee Rogers and Nakeia Guiden each posted season-high scoring totals, and Megan Herbert recorded her 1,000th career rebound as the Sugar Bears defeated Texas State 81-75 on Wednesday to remain perfect inside the Farris Center this season.

The Sugar Bears, who have the Southland's best record at 9-1 in the league and 19-4 overall, keep their home record unblemished this season at 13-0 and extend their winning streak to eight games – the longest conference winning streak they've had since joining the Southland.

"I'm happy to get out of here with a win," said UCA head coach Matt Daniel. "I thought our focus was good for the first 38 minutes. But you can't back off. The last two games, that's when we've made our push. Tonight we relaxed, and we're fortunate to hang on for the win. Hats off to Texas State for battling."...

Sugar Bears keep home record perfect with 81-75 victory

By David McCollum

Destinee Rogers followed her marching orders Wednesday night and led the University of Central Arkansas Sugar Bears through a minefield.

Rogers, the Sugar Bears’ point guard, hit all six of UCA’s 3-pointers (three in a row to start the second half) as the UCA women, although staggering at the end, kept their home record perfect with a 81-75 victory over Texas State at the Farris Center.

“Coach (Matt Daniel) told me that I needed to be more aggressive and I took that to heart,” said Rogers who was eight of 15 from the field, five of six from the line and had four assists. “Coach said I needed to go out and make plays, get my teammates involved and score. I decided to go out and do that.

“I had some wide-open shots and I felt good on the release.”..

Des is maybe the most energetic basketball players I have seen in 40 years...I love to watch her guarding some 6 foot forward or center and watch them get frustrated as she is on them every move....glad to see her have a big scoring ngiht.....
