Coming into this game:

UCA ranked avg. #1
SELA ranked avg. #7

UCA tops in 3 pointers and 3 point defense.
SELA near last in 3 point defense and close to last in 3 pointers.
UCA leads in field goal percentage etc.

SELA's record: 5-8 conference 10-16 overall

If UCA hits some threes and builds a 20 point lead at half, SELA has three girls averaging 10 per game and with no outside weapon with the 3-ball, this could get ugly quick.

My prediction: UCA 72 SELA 48

You can never underestimate the homecourt advantage and the mental state each team brings into the game on a particular day. Hopefully, knowing that a win will give them at least a part of the Championship with two games to go, will be incentive enough. BC, I hope you are right on the money.

If I'm wrong...well then I'm wrong. Us fans get to predict whatever we want. Of course the coaches and players shouldn't..and usually don't want to provide that locker room motiviation for the other teams.

But I see a few things that are in our favor.

1. They only need to win ONE game out of three. All three of those games are against teams that have losing records.

2. One of those games is at home..and we're pretty good at home. 8)

3. What I think is most important. Coach said in the UCAsports article, "If we can figure out how to win one more out of the next three, just one more..." Daniel said. Figure out how? Coach, you figured it out! That tells me he's not looking past ANYONE! With that mindset he and the players have it will be business as usual EVERY game. =D>

4. We have a TEAM. When one has a bad game, the others pick it up. You can see that when you compare Megan's double doubles the past few years..she's gone down since her freshman year and other players, various ones have stepped up.

5. Coach isn't afraid to go barefoot. =D>

6. Steve O's calling the games!

7. We're already post-season bound! Pressure is off for that!

8. The number of wins the other remaining teams have.

9. The number of wins SELA has.

10. It's the freakin' SUGAR BEARS! Nuff' said! 8)

Having played organized ball before, I can tell you a poor shooting team with little defense, even at home, might be able to keep it close, but in the end it usually comes to a loss.

SUGAR BEARS HAVE SIGHTS ON TOP SEED, SHARE OF SOUTHLAND TITLE

HAMMOND, La. — The most lopsided loss in Sugar Bear history occurred here in Hammond in 1977 when Southeastern Louisiana trounced UCA 132-50 on their way to a national championship in the now-defunct AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, which was started in 1971 and discontinued in 1982).

Fast-forward 35 years and that same Lady Lion team will again have a chance to be on hand for a piece of Sugar Bear history, as Southeastern's 1976-77 team will be in attendance as part of Alumni Weekend at the University Center. But this time around, the Sugar Bears are hoping to be on the right end of the record book rewrite.

When the Sugar Bears (21-4, 12-1 Southland) and Lady Lions (10-16, 5-8) meet up on Saturday at 3 p.m., it will be UCA's turn to gun for a championship – needing one win in its final three games to secure at least a share of its first Southland Conference title and the No. 1 seed at the conference tournament in Katy, Texas beginning March 6...

...The game can be heard on KUCA 91.3 FM The Bear and on ucagameday.com with pregame beginning at 2:40 p.m.

Shots would not fall in the 1st half and a bad call
With less than a minute to play in the second half.
Bad call did not cost us the game but it sure didn't
help either. Need to forget this one and get ready for
UTSA.

We'll win one or both of the last two, I hope this is a wake-up call. You can almost never (especially in conference play) call your performance. We have depended on second half comebacks to often this season and this afternoon, we just couldn't pull it together. Wednesday, should see us back on course.

Better for SBs to have a slight down now and not in a week.... maybe a wake up call as a stark reminder that every game is at risk.....Go get USTA....
