AFTER LOSS, SUGAR BEARS TAKE TITLE CHASE TO SAN ANTONIO

The Sugar Bears (22-5, 12-2 Southland) maintain a one-game lead over McNeese State heading into the final week of the regular season, but would need two wins or one win and a Cowgirl loss to claim the title outright.
UCA has yet to win at UTSA, going 0-2 here since joining the Southland Conference. Wednesday's game will mark the Sugar Bears' last chance to do so as conference foes with UTSA leaving for the Western Athletic Conference next season. UCA fell 66-59 in 2007, then dropped the 2010 game 71-66 after being tied at 66 with under a minute to go

Airtime on The Bear 91.3 and ucasports.com is at 6:40 pm from down here in the Hill Country of Texas. Idk what the SBs will do, but I firmly believe they are ready to take out their frustrations on someone or some other team...

BTW: here is the the feature/Coach's Show that features all 3 Sr's that will be honored Saturday afternoon in the final home game of the season (that I hope ALL of you are at!)

Central Arkansas clinched a share of its first Southland Conference championship Wednesday, defeating UTSA 62-50 to also secure the top seed at next week’s conference tournament in Katy.

"Congratulations to Central Arkansas," said fourth-year head coach Matt Daniel. "The pressure has been on this group, and to come out and win it on the road after dropping one is just awesome. It's amazing, you're 22-5 and lose one and your confidence sways, and you don't get to go home where everybody loves you. You've just got to grind it out. And we did that. Congratulations to everybody at Central Arkansas. It'll be nice to have a banner hanging in the Farris Center that says 'Women's Basketball Conference Champions'."

The Sugar Bears (23-5, 13-2 Southland) led the entire way, building a lead as big as 13 before the Roadrunners (8-20, 4-11) cut it to as few as two with just under four minutes to go at 52-50. The Sugar Bears would keep the Roadrunners off the board the rest of the way, and hit 10 straight free throws down the stretch to pull away for the win...
