David pretty much hits the nail on the head...good in-depth article. The
UALR matchup on a yearly basis would be great. It should happen, needs
to happen, I wish it would happen...probably won't and this is just my opinion.
UALR does not have a football program and they probably don't want to
take a chance on loosing what little prestige they have during basketball
season even if it is a girls matchup. They probably want to maintain the
mystic of being in a tougher conference to keep a recruiting edge with the
two schools being so close. ( TAYLOR GAULT) who is from Conway, chose
UALR over UCA. It's the same reason we don't play a baseball home and
home series with the Trojans. UALR has a lot to loose...it's that perception
thing that we talk about all the time. I may be wrong and Chris Peterson
at UALR will never admit it...but that's the way I see it.

1 slight correction, UALR-UCA actually do play home in home in baseball, yearly since we've moved up to D1, w/maybe the exception of 1 year I think, maybe 2. But this season we even get to to play them at Dickey-Stephens Park. (April 25th @ UCA, May 8th @ DSP)

Ok, we do play them once at our place and once at theirs...but I was talking
about a series, you know 3 games in conway and 3 games in LR. It would
cut down on travel cost and be a great series.

Why waste 6 of your 9 non-conference weekend games on 1 opponent when you only get 3 weekends to get as much as experience as possible before the SLC season starts, and you already play that in-state opponent home and home in midweek on a yearly basis anyway. The last 2 seasons, and 3 of the last 4 years, all of our non-conference weekend series have been at home. You cant cut down on travel expenses much more than that. I kinda get your point, but since we do play them/have them scheduled weather permitting on a yearly basis home and home (except in '08 and '09 when they would not play us), I may be missing more of your point somewhere in translation.
