I guess it is time to start this thread. My first thought is to go internal, at least for the upcoming season, and then reevaluate after that. We should still be in pretty good shape as long as the core group of players remain.

I will wait until it is official to make my comments...don't want to jump the gun.

:( He brought our program up from nothing, and was great at putting butts in the seats. He will be missed.

UCA's Teague ready to move quickly in coaching search

Quote:
"I hope to hire somebody very quickly," Teague saidt. "It's odd to be looking for a basketball coach right now, but the recruiting period in July is very important for women's basketball and I hope to have somebody in place by then."

He said he would also consider anyone interested on the current staff.

He said Daniel told him his reasons for leaving UCA were less about salary (he made $100,000 per year plus incentives that put him at $125,000 the last two years) and more about professional advancement. Conference USA was 11th in RPI among women's basketball conferences last year; the Southland Conference was 25th.

Great choice. But, it's my guess that a female will be looked for first since women's VB, SB, Golf, T&F, and Soccer are all coached by males. NCAA looks at the diversity on the school's staff. If Tony though is the best candidate, based on all who apply, I believe he has a good chance. Just my 2 cents.

NCAA never sold one ticket to an event at any school. Get the best coach avaliable who has great potential. Brad has his work cut out for himself but the program is much more attractive than in 2008.

Don't you just love some of the "talking head sportscasters" our "major" media market has to offer. The doofus on fox 16 just said Matt Daniel left UCA for Marshall because the opportunity to coach at the D1 level was just to tempting.

It's Gus Malzahn...

My guess is with Brad saying he is also looking "inside" for applications that Tony applied...just a guess.

Megan's facebook status was also, "happy, happy, happy" ...which makes me think the new coach is an insider that she is happy is getting the job.

Just trying to put the pieces together for my best guess.

Sugar Bears to announce coach; signs point to Delta State coach

McCollum's Column: Daniel moves on; Teague moves with lightning speed

Hate to see Tony leave if he does not get the job but it would be understandable.....all of our SB basketball coaches have been super.

Coach Rushing's resignation to accept the UCA position has already been announced by Delta State.

A very impressive résumé. Looks like a great addition to UCA.

Welcome, Coach.

That was an uh-oh on DSU's part, but oh we'll. I think this is a great hire. I remember facing off against DSU's team after she took the job, and they were always the team to beat.
I think she will continue the progress that Coach Daniels started and push us even higher. I just hope that she is a great promoter like CD was so that the attendance and home court advantage we have gained the past few years continues.

Welcome Coach Rushing!
