Word is that the girls won't be receiving rings for winning the conference championship. What the hell is that all about? Is the athletic department and/or school that broke that they can't afford about 20 rings for the team and staff?

Something is gravely wrong when the football team gets rings for coming in first in conference play but yet were not designated conference champs because of the five year rule but yet the girls don't get jack.

Seeing as to how women's basketball is probably the second largest attended sport at UCA the girls deserve some sort of individual recognition for their efforts. A ring is not too much to ask for regarding their accomplishment. But then again we're talking about UCA here.

If anyone knows of anything to the contrary then please straighten me out.

I thought the conference bought rings for both the regular season champs and tournament champs (if different teams).
If they don't, then they should!

Heck, if that's the case then they bought rings for the wrong football team in 2008.

The Southland Conference buys the rings for the regular season conference champs in each sport but not for the post season tournament champs (unless it's golf or a sport that only has one official conference event). If you win the post season tournament, you can buy your own rings for the team if you so choose. Also, the conference will only spend so much on each ring. If you want to make it more "flashy" you have to pay for the difference.

If that is the case, I suspect Brad could get the word out for nice rings and some money would show up.
